"Is making lists your thing? By all means, make a list, then," she agreed, and then shrugged, "It wouldn't be a big deal. I have a feeling cleaning tables isn't your only skill. You'd be able to get another job somewhere and make the rent."
"It's a nice face, by the way," she said bluntly, a little shocked at his next remarks, which caught her off guard because she'd thought she would have to do the majority of the flirting to get anywhere with this. "Well, you caught me. I was possibly planning on that, but now that you mention it, I'm definitely planning on it." She leaned in across the counter to close the already small distance between them, meeting his lips and finding that she was still smiling.

Lorcan burst into another grin. "It's actually really not my thing. I don't do well with the whole hyper organized type-A thing, honestly." He opened his mouth to respond, and then shook his head. "I was a little tempted to say something like 'You have no idea what kind of skills I have,'" he delivered this in a fake seductive voice and then winced, "Luckily, thought better of it though. Merlin, that's smarmy, sorry." He gave Devyn an apologetic look.
"Well, yours is rather nice, too," Lorcan said aiming for sincere and less smarmy than his last remark had made him feel, but not sure if he had made it. He smiled at her again. "I'm glad I was right - I was a little worried that I was gonna stick my foot in it." When she leant up to kiss him, he rocked back a little instinctively, and then, pulled away from her mouth to sneak a furtive glance at the tables.
"Ehm," he begin a little awkwardly - but grinning despite himself, because she'd kissed him - "I realize it's a little bit my fault, but we probably shouldn't be doing this right here, since there are still people coming in? And I'm still on shift for, oh, ten minutes?"

"Oh, really?" she smirked, "You should have said it. I could've come up with a lot to respond to that with. Thanks, though, Scamander. Dunno why we've never talked before..." She sighed when he backed out of the kiss after a moment, surveying him with amusement.
"There's no one coming in, though," she informed him, glancing behind her at the mostly empty tables and no signs of anyone else walking in, and then looked back to him as if to prove her point. "Besides, I don't really care," she said flippantly, leaning in to quickly kiss him again before pulling away on purpose this time, taking a step back from the counter and grinning at him. "But whatever, if you so desperately need these ten minutes to finish your shift, I suppose I'll give you ten minutes," she told him, though by her voice it sounded like she had no intention of doing any such thing.

"Well, you don't need to care, you don't have to come in here every day and possibly re-encounter someone who saw you snogging some gorgeous girl over the counter, do you?" Lorcan said, still looking over her shoulder to make sure no one had been looking at them.
His eyes flicked back to her after her teasing kiss, though, and he leaned a little closer to her and stuck his tongue out. "I know exactly what you're trying to do... and I'm very ashamed that it's working." he admitted. He ducked his head self-consciously again, thought for a second and then said, "Give me two minutes to clean up, and then I'm done - I don't think Libby can dock much of my paycheck for eight minutes."

"Did you just call me gorgeous?" she teased, more pleased at this development than she'd care to admit, "That's really smooth. And here you were a couple minutes ago trying to convince me that you only say stupid things..." she trailed off, sighing dramatically and trying not to react to him sticking his tongue out.
"Wow, you really have no willpower whatsoever," she chided jokingly, "But alright, two minutes. That's fair," she smiled at him and picked up her forgotten coffee, taking a sip as she waited (not so patiently) for him to finish cleaning up. This definitely wasn't the way she'd pictured the rest of her afternoon going, but there was hardly any reason for her to complain - he was hot and surprisingly not irritating, and she was bored. If he was willing to snog her, of course she had no problems with that prospect.

"It was kind of smooth, wasn't it?" Lorcan said, feeling pleased with himself. "I'm actually impressed with myself. I guess I am lea stupid when I'm not trying ...not to be." he grimaced a little over that incomprehensible sentence and then shrugged at Devyn.
"Yeah, sorry if that's going to be a problem. I generally just hope my pretty face makes up for it," he added dryly. He hurried through the cleanup, and only struggled briefly with the coffee maker, which had an unfortunate tendency to get jammed. He leant his head on his shoulder again to apologize, and then saw Devyn drinking her coffee. "Er. I was gonna say sorry that it's taking so long, but I guess it's an excuse to finish your coffee." He turned back to the coffee maker and suddenly felt a little uncomfortable for the first time. What in the world was he doing?
The last time he'd let a gorgeous girl seduce him into something it had been Ricky Jordan, and had ended with the two of them doing indecent things on a table after hours. He still didn't know how he felt about that incident, and rushing into the same thing again? With someone else - his hands stopped moving on the coffee maker and he took a second to let out a deep breath.
Why shouldn't he? He was eighteen, now was the time to do stupid things and rush into to fooling around with other people. Devyn really was gorgeous, and got angry over disgusting coffee, and wanted to kiss him, and he wanted to kiss her too. If it got weird or uncomfortable for him, then he'd deal with it when it happened. He took another breath and then turned towards her again.
"Okay." He showed her his empty hands, and grinned. "Ready when you are."

"You're not stupid," she replied genuinely, shooting him a sincere smile. He was sort of random at times, but she actually found it funny in a good way and for some reason didn't want him to get the impression that she was making fun of him. "Seriously, you're not. I wouldn't be here still if I thought you were stupid, trust me. I don't have time for stupid people."
She set her coffee down, making a face at him. "So I definitely have coffee breath now, just so you know what you're getting yourself into in advance," she joked lightly, and then went on, gesturing for him to move, "But alright, first off, I'm not going to kiss you over the counter again, because that's uncomfortable."

Lorcan returned her smile with an equally sincere one. He had the feeling that she wasn't being a little mocking, the way she had been for most of the evening, and appreciated. He knew as well as anyone how much easier it was to deflect than be honest about what you were thinking.
Lorcan nodded solemnly at Devyn's next statements, and then laughed, unable to keep a straight face. "Why does this make me feel like I'm preparing for an exam? Beware of coffee breath, don't kiss over the counter... And anyway, I like coffee," he added, "I spend so much time around it." He dug around under the counter and then popped back. "I also happen to have the keys to one of the ornamental treehouses upstairs, if you're really against leaning over counters."

"If you feel like you're preparing for an exam, then I'm doing it wrong," she commented, resisting the urge to laugh once again, "I promise you won't feel like that in a couple of minutes." She pulled him closer by the wrist when he came around the counter, leaning up to kiss him again, this time properly because it was a much better angle than before. She eased into it, slowly deepening the kiss as her arms found their way around his neck.
When she broke away after several moments, still pressed up against him, she cautiously glanced over her shoulder to survey the small number of people who were still sitting around in the Tamarisk, suddenly self-conscious for the first time. "So," she began, slightly breathless as she turned her attention back towards him, "Were you joking about that ornamental treehouse room? Because I definitely sense that you might be fucking with me."

Lorcan snorted. "Depends on what exactly you're-" he got out, before Devyn tugged him forward by the wrist, and kissed him again. He could see what she meant about the counter being annoying - without it between them, he could feel every movement she was making against his body, and run a hand along the arm she'd twined along his neck.
She pulled away abruptly, while Lorcan still had a hand resting at the back of her throat. "Huh," he said, after a second, still a little dazed "I feel like I should say something about us mentally scarring the people in here and also you totally ignoring me, but, er. Later." He looked down at her after her next question, and nodded a little wildly. "No, I was definitely serious about the ornamental treehouse. Bit flimsy but definitely - definitely there." he finished.

"Nah, everyone's fine," Devyn said nonchalantly after glancing around the cafe, "No one's noticed us or how terrible at finishing work shifts you are. It's all good," she went on, more so to convince herself rather than him. She did feel strange about snogging someone so publicly - the last time she'd done anything similar had been with Sebastian at the ice cream parlour over a year ago, and although it had been in a back corridor where no one could see them, there was the risk that anyone could have stumbled upon them eventually. She wanted to keep going with Lorcan and whatever it is they were doing, because frankly it was fun, but she was starting to find his offer of going somewhere more private very appealing, even if it was somewhere as ridiculous as an ornamental treehouse.
Hyper-aware of his hand on the back of her neck, she smiled, taking her own hands off his neck and edging away a bit. "Okay, Mr. Ideas, where is this room, exactly? Upstairs, you said? I'm alright with checking it out if you are...?" she trailed off, making it sound like a half-question, half-statement.

"I guess I'm relieved that no one is aware of my terrible shame, then," Lorcan said, deadpan. He pulled his hand away from her when she shifted away from him, and then used it to point at the treehouse. "It's... up the stairs, pretty much. See? Hard to miss. I think they were originally planning to use it for storage or something which is why it opens and all, but then they added that storage room in the back-" he stopped himself, and gave Devyn a rueful look. "The history of the treehouse is not very sexy talk, is it?" He said.
He considered pulling her upstairs by the hand, wondered if it was too intimate or something, and then settled for tugging at her elbow as he led them them both up the stairs. Lorcan reached out to open the treehouse with the tiny key on the ring in his hand, and then shut it behind them, pretending his heart wasn't drumming nervously in his chest. Everything he was doing felt a little more important and decisive than usual, like he was not only doing something out of his comfort zone but turning into someone else altogether.
"There, see?" he said, aiming to still sound casual, "Now there's no one to scar or otherwise alarm."

"I'm more concerned about why you know the whole history of the treehouse," Devyn answered, raising an eyebrow but duly following him as he led the way up the stairs, "Do you snog a lot of people up here or something?" She was only partially joking, having absolutely no idea as to what his romantic history was like. She crossed her arms and considered this as he closed the door behind them, sensing the not-so-casual-but-attempting-to-be-casual tone of his voice. Despite wanting to just go along with it, she paused, meeting his gaze.
"Are you, like, okay?" she asked, mentally cringing at how eloquent she sounded - though she couldn't help it, because she wasn't used to having this sort of conversation before snogging someone, "I mean, you seem nervous. Are you nervous or something? I thought you were into this, but I guess it's fine if you're not..." she continued, wondering how she'd gone from confident to second-guessing over the course of a few minutes, especially when second-guessing involved caring about exactly how he felt, which was unusual for her. "Wait, are you a virgin?" she blurted out, unfortunately realizing how ridiculous the words sounded after they'd left her mouth, as if she was suddenly taking tips on how to win someone over from her sister.

[[ooc: sorry sorry sorry]]
"It's all part of the job training," Lorcan deadpanned, "You have to name the three best snog spots in the cafe, or you lose your barista badge." He knew that he was deflecting her question, but he was a little embarrassed at the idea of admitting that he'd hardly looked at anyone, much less dragged them off for a snog, in almost a year. He wondered if Devyn would be flattered that she was the first person who he'd been interested in that long, or unimpressed.
His eyebrow shot up when he noted Devyn's crossed arms after he shut the door. He couldn't help the small smile that leapt to his lips at her comically phrased question. "I am, like," he began in a slightly mocking voice, and then let out a sharp breath and abruptly became serious, "Definitely nervous," he admitted, and shot her a hopeful look. "But most people probably would be, right? I mean, it's normal -" he began, and then caught sight of her unruffled expression, "-not that I'm calling you abnormal if you aren't nervous," he sputtered, backtracking, "Though... my dignity would appreciate it if you didn't tell me, if you aren't," he said. He gave her a startled look after her final question, and was a little comforted by the fact that she looked as surprised for having asked the question as he felt after hearing it. "I - no, I'm not, actually." he said, trying to figure out why the question had occurred to her at all. Devyn had looked so comfortable and collected while boldly flirting with him, that he hadn't actually considered if - after all, just because someone looked calm, it didn't actually mean that they were calm. "A-are you?" he ventured, a little tentatively. "We don't have to - I mean, if you don't want to have sex, we can... not." He didn't want to admit how much the idea of just snogging and not having sex appealed to him. It was only because they'd just met, he told himself. Probably if he got to know her, he would want to, right? He pushed the thoughts out of his head, and waited for Devyn's response.

(OOC - dude no it's fine!)
"Ah, well doesn't that make perfect sense," Devyn retorted, equally as deadpan, "I'm hoping this is the best spot out of the three, or I'll be disappointed because that would probably mean you don't think I'm worthy of being snogged in the best one..." She surveyed him carefully as he went on, opening her mouth to retort when he mocked her but promptly closing it when he finished the sentence.
"It's alright," she shrugged, appearing unaffected, "I thought you might be nervous, since I can already tell you're not the greatest at hiding how you feel. Don't worry about it. And fine, I'll be kind and spare your dignity, then," she told him, sighing over-dramatically as if doing so was taking a lot of effort on her part. She cleared her throat, however, when he answered her question, not immediately knowing how to feel about it because she wasn't completely sure why she'd asked it. "Oh, okay. I was just checking," she replied, secretly relieved that he wasn't a virgin and also that he didn't seem offended that she'd asked him about it in the first place, "I'm not either, so whatever..."
Feeling strange about going into any sort of detail about losing her virginity with a boy she'd just met and not wanting the conversation to get too serious, Devyn shrugged again, making her way over to him. "I don't care," she added, leaning up to kiss him properly.
