The music in the club was almost obnoxiously loud, and Addie liked to think she had a pretty high tolerance level for noise. She was, at least, sitting in a classier area, far away from the sweating, grinding mass of human bodies congregated on the dance floor beneath the strobe lights. Between the pounding music and the blinding lights, it was a real, honest club experience, in her humble opinion. She was still rather amazed that the fake ID plan had actually worked in the first place.
She glanced over at her companion, mentally sighing when she saw Faye with her usual cigarette in her mouth, not even paying attention to any of the guys trying to flirt with her. Though, Addie couldn't really blame her for that -- most of the boys here were not even that much older than them, and they all seemed rather gross. Still. She'd brought her friend out here to have fun.
"Faye," she began with a deep sigh that was no longer strictly mental. "Aren't you going to do anything besides smoke? Come on, we can find ourselves some cute guys -- ew, no, not you -- " she interrupted herself to add, wrinkling her nose at a twenty-something guy with greasy hair and a tiny failed moustache who skulked off in disappointment, "and we can head onto the dance floor and have some real fun!"

As per usual, Faye Stanley had made a beeline towards the smoking area. She always did; it didn't matter where she went, soon enough she'd find a decent spot to have a fag and ignore everyone around her. The fact that she was in a Muggle club with music that would practically burn your ears off, heaving with an abundance of sweaty bodies, made very little difference to her. Leaning against the wall, and blatantly ignoring a rather drunk guy eyeing her up, she took a deep drag, the very picture of calm.
It was unusual that she was such good mates with Addie Beaumont, of all people, because Addie was positively nothing like Faye. They were almost absolute opposites, from their dress sense to their clashing personalities, but something had clicked between the two of them, despite the fact that Faye often dearly wished to staple things to her friend's head when she was pissing her off. Seeing as that was standard Faye, however, it didn't actually stand in the way of a perfectly good friendship.
When Addie began to talk, Faye lifted her head, cocking one eyebrow. She surveyed her friend with a distinct lack of amusement until the girl had finished her chattering - although she did betray her composure somewhat at Addie's disgusted reaction to the guy with greasy hair, lip twitching slightly - before saying, "Real fun. Want to tell me what's the fun of being caught in the middle of a bunch of sweaty idiots all trying to look like they know how to dance? Furthermore, have you seen me try to dance? Not pretty."

Addie sighed in dramatic exasperation, tapping her fingers on the table the two of them had claimed. The bartender appeared nearby, presumably to offer them more shots, but she waved him away in irritation, not yet in the right mood for downing any amount of liquor. She knew how to handle it, of course, how could she not with siblings like hers, but she also liked to be conscious of the right time to drink. Obviously, the right time here would be as soon as she convinced Faye to head out onto the dance floor with her -- which would happen, of course. Addie hadn't dragged the two of them out here for nothing, after all.
She was well aware that she and Faye didn't make much sense as a friendship, but she was also aware that, despite Faye's attitude towards the whole matter of clubbing, there was probably no one else she'd rather be out with at night in the heart of muggle London's nightlife. Between her and Faye, whatever their differences, they were guaranteed a memorable night out no matter what happened.
"Well," she said with her patented mischievous smile, the one she always used to get Faye or Ainsley to agree to whatever crazy plan she'd thought up this time, "there's always the chance you might bump into an actual hot guy. And, I mean, you don't necessarily have to dance with him when that happens."
Her eyes drifted to track the various scantily-clad boys and girls heading onto the dance floor in a blur of drunken laughter and chatter, and she looked back at Faye with a grin. "Or, alternately, you could dance with me. How about it, Stanley? I promise I won't judge your dancing skills."

Not for the first time, Faye fervently wished that it was perfectly acceptable to smoke inside in public places - but, she supposed, the night was mild, because the weather had been appallingly hot the past few days. She'd barely gone outside, and even then she'd hid herself in as much shade as possible and donned sunglasses and had to always be in the possession of a cool drink. She leaned her elbows on the table, running her free hand through her hair, although she started when Addie waved the bartender away, eyes narrowing at her friend and throwing the hand upwards in exasperation. "What gives, Ads?" She demanded. "How are we supposed to get through the night sober? Do you really expect me to do that?" With an expressive roll of her eyes, she propped the cigarette back onto her bottom lip.
When the mischievous smile unfurled itself on Addie's lips, Faye had to force herself not to roll her eyes once again. She was pretty sure that if someone followed her about with a camera all of the time, the vast majority of the pictures would come out with only the whites of her eyes showing, so often did she roll them. People in general, however, were eye-roll inducing, and even one of her two best mates was no exception. Faye was a grump, and she'd be a grump until the end of her days.
But even a grump like her couldn't deny there was something infectious about Addie, and a smirk found its way onto her own lips as she replied smoothly, "I wouldn't count on it, matey. And thanks for that thinly veiled innuendo," she tacked on. "I'm not thirteen, you know, you could just say that I could stick my tongue down his throat. Romance is dead, folks," she muttered, although not altogether in a bad temper anymore.
Ah, dancing. It was sort of painful, really, to watch drunken people dance. Pumping their fists and making vaguely sexual movements and staggering and chucking their hair around and probably not realising they looked like twats. Painful, and yet entertaining, if you were in the right sort of spirit. However, Faye just wasn't the sort of person who could strut onto a dancefloor and start bopping around without being somewhat tipsy - perhaps even smashed - so she leaned forward, one eyebrow quirking competitively, and she said, "Buy us some drinks - and none of that stuff for pussies, I'm talking good, proper, drinks - and you've got yourself a deal, Addie. I mean," she straightened up, taking her very last drag with relish and chucking the butt on the ground, "Did we really come here to be sober? Because if we did, I was sorely mistaken."

Addie made a face at her friend, the typical one she made when dealing with Faye, which both of them knew to mean she was equal parts amused and fed up. Actually, generally, she was more parts amused -- as much as Faye could get on her nerves, she did truly love her friend. Which was also why she answered calmly, "I just think we should temper ourselves, you know -- we don't want to get too drunk right away and then not remember what an amazing night it's going to be, do we?" she phrased this as a question, though she'd by lying if she said she cared for an answer. Besides, they had more important things to do than debate the best time to start drinking in a club they had entered illegally.
She had to smile when she noticed Faye smirking -- that always meant Faye was in, and the only one left to pester into agreeing was Ainsley. However, Ainsley wasn't here tonight, which meant she and Faye had the freedom to go totally crazy. "Oh, don't be silly - you never know what kind of prince might be lurking amongst the frogs," she said airily, giggling a little at the thought of Faye sticking her tongue down the throat of one of the gross, sweaty frog-guys all around them. He'd have to be someone rather special to catch Faye's attention in the first place, she was sure. "But yes, if and when you find someone, feel free to stick your tongue down their throat. As long as I'm not around to watch, of course." At the very least, the conversation topic seemed to have lightened Faye's mood some, which was Addie's initial goal in the first place.
"No," she agrees slowly, watching Faye finish off her cigarette, her smile brightening at her friend's words. "We most certainly did not. Fine, I'll buy us some shots, and then you owe me a dance. Deal?" Without even waiting for Faye to agree, she lifted a hand to wave over a different bartender than the earlier one so she could order some shots for the two of them. This was going to be fun.

As Addie spoke, Faye fixed her with a deadpan expression. Faye had come here partly because Addie wasn't going to take no for an answer, partly because she was ludicrously bored, but mainly because she wanted to get drunk. Getting drunk was always a good plan. Unfortunately, Addie seemed to think that a good night could be achieved without knocking back something that tasted vaguely like battery acid. "You can have an amazing night without getting too drunk? How interesting. Tell me more," she said, sliding her lighter into her pocket and shaking her hair back. "Seriously, Ads, I hear your words, but they make no sense to me."
Faye surveyed the crowd in the smoker's area sceptically. It didn't look as though London's finest had turned themselves out that night, but she supposed there would have to be a couple of good-looking people tucked into the crowd somewhere. Law of averages, and all that lark. "Because I'm such a Princess?" She snorted, but fluttered her eyelashes. "And I thought that the frog was the Prince? As in, he turns into a Prince after you kiss him?" She shook her head broodingly. "Yet another fairytale setting us all up for a failure. And hey," she tilted her head to one side. "I think if we have to worry about anyone sticking their tongue down someone's throat, it's clearly you."
When Addie agreed to get the shots, Faye realised that her hands were tied. It didn't matter, though - once the alcohol kicked in she'd be totally down for dancing. She shot a half-smile at the bartender when he zoomed over, and nodded in Addie's direction, saying calmly, "This fine lady is in need of something sure to get us bladdered." Actually, she had to shout slightly, due to the thump of the music, but she managed to keep her voice fairly serene.

Addie flipped her curls out of her face and smiled innocently at Faye. "I've had many absolutely fabulous nights without being drunk, darling, and you should know -- you were there for most of them!" she protested. Granted, most of the time, they were only not drunk because it was a bit hard to get alcohol around Hogwarts when you were just little fourth or fifth years, but still.
"No, no, the right frog is the prince," Addie explained, shaking her head. "All the other frogs are just frogs. So you've got to find the frog that's a prince. See, it makes sense!" Fairytales were Addie's lifeblood, so she had to make a face at Faye's comment about them, but otherwise, she ignored her in favor of more interesting conversation topics. This wasn't Hogwarts, after all -- they were out, at night, in muggle London, in a club illegally, and she intended to have more fun than debating myths and folklore with her best friend. "Don't be silly, every guy in the vicinity is staring at you!" Whether this was strictly true or not, Addie didn't much care, as the goal was to get Faye out of her corner and into the heart of the club.
The bartender returned with their shots, and Addie beamed at Faye as she took her shot glass. "Ready?" she giggled, and downed her shot in one fell swoop, laughing as the alcohol began to kick in. "Now, I believe you owe me a dance."

"Fabulous?" Faye repeated, sheer sarcasm dripping off of the words. "Whatever you say. I think fabulous is kind of stretching it. Alcohol has enhanced our nights out, even you can't argue with that." It wasn't that Faye was out getting positively paralytic every night, but she enjoyed a good drink and knew when it was required in order to loosen up a bit. She never really got to the stage of being smashed, however, because she liked to have a certain amount of control over herself, even whilst intoxicated.
"Yeah, but, friendly reminder: he's still a frog at the start. So I've got to stick my tongue down his throat despite the frog-like traits just so he can turn into a Prince? Sounds like a gross deal," Faye responded, wrinkling her nose. She'd never been very much into fairy-tales, and had regarded any adult with high scepticism when they relayed them to her when she was a tot. Well, perhaps she'd slightly liked them when she was very, very young, but she grew out of it quickly. At Addie's insistence that every guy in the club was staring at her - a grossly exaggerated statement - anyone who was looking was probably wondering how anyone could be so ludicrously grumpy and bored on a night out, Faye snorted. "You're a twat. Did you know that?"
Faye gave a nod of thanks to the bartender, and lifted her own shot, surveying it for a minute before knocking it back. She made a disgusted face at the taste and the sheer power of the stuff. For all her composure and big talk, did make her shudder slightly. But, she knew, the feeling would be worth it, once it kicked in. Addie seemed to already be feeling the effects - lightweight, Faye thought in disgust - and was clamoring for a dance. With a sharp look at her friend, Faye lifted another shot glass and knocked it back, and repeated the previous disgusted expression and shudder. Setting the glass down, she jerked her chin upwards, rolling her shoulders up in a shrug. "Not exactly all the booze I was hoping for, but it'll suffice. And," she sighed, "I did promise."

Addie stuck her tongue out at Faye and casually reached over to swipe an unattended drink someone had left on the next table over. It was pink, and smelled fruity, and had a little umbrella, which she took out before knocking down a big gulp. "Alcohol helps," she admitted, offering what remained of the drink to Faye. "But, come on, you and I are fully capable of having an awesome night just the two of us," she said, breaking down in giggles by the end of her sentence at the memories of their previous five years worth of misadventures at Hogwarts.
Despite her posturing, and the fact that she had grown up surrounded by fine wines and beer-filled sports-watching parties, Addie was a notorious lightweight. She enjoyed alcohol for the buzz and the confidence, but she also knew she could very quickly end up doing something she regretted if she drank just a smidge over her limit. Which was why she preferred to stay mostly sober and let her natural confidence do the talking, or the flirting, for her instead. Tonight, though, she was all about getting drunk and dancing with Faye. That's what summer vacation was for, she reasoned with herself.
"Stop talking about frogs," she said insistently, already feeling the light buzz from her first two drinks set in, pressing the stolen drink into one of Faye's hands and grabbing the other. "Who cares about princes? You and me, Stanley, let's do it."

Faye accepted the remains of the pink drink, although she shot Addie a slightly incredulous look as she raised it to her lips. "Here's hoping the person who drank out of this didn't have a cold sore," she announced, taking a measured sip. "Or something worse," she tacked on darkly, but the drink was rather nice indeed, and so she decided the best strategy was to knock it all right back, which she did with a vengeance. "Awesome? Easy, tiger. Those are high expectations."
Addie really was an extraordinary lightweight, Faye thought with a shake of her head, although the effects of the two shots she'd downed and the pink drink were beginning to crawl their way through her body. The atmosphere probably sped up the process, too; the thrum of the music, the hustle and bustle, the laughter echoing through the night, the fug of cigarette smoke - and the fact that they were certainly too young to have gotten in. God bless fake IDs, Faye thought wryly, already feeling herself loosen up a bit, although the alcohol hadn't truly hit home quite yet. Although she had complained about it a moment before, she scanned the area for more unattended drinks, raised one finger towards Addie in a motion that clearly ordered her to wait a second, swiped the drink (more than halfway full - talk about wasting money) and took a few gulps of it. Hell, she might as well get fucked, even if she didn't like the taste one tiny jot. Grimacing, she resurfaced, swiping the back of her hand across her lips.
When her hand was grabbed she rolled her eyes, but instead of causing a fuss (she had promised) she set the stolen drink on the table beside them and, suddenly feeling rather fuzzy indeed, began marching her way through the bodies, boldly pushing and shoving her way back inside to the dancefloor, still clutching Addie's hand.

Once on the dance floor, after having soundly ignored all of Faye's comments, as six years of friendship had taught her to do by this point, Addie found herself pressed up between what seemed like a wall of gyrating human bodies, Faye on one side and some extraordinarily tall guy who really ought to shrink a bit in her humble opinion on the other side. Some girls in front of them were shrieking the lyrics to whatever obnoxious song was playing like their lives depended on it, and nearby, two guys had their tongues down each other's throats.
It wasn't her typical weekend night scene, but she'd thought it would be fun and, with Faye's hand linked in hers, she was certain it would be. Even though she'd probably have a pounding headache in the morning from the combination of the deafening noise and the alcohol, she couldn't bring herself to care. She began dancing along to the music, raising her free hand in the air to join the mass of dancers on the floor.
To speak to Faye, she had to positively shriek over the music, but she managed to get out, "Trust me, this night is going to be totally awesome!"

The music certainly wasn't Faye's very particular taste, but, with the warmth of alcohol spreading through her body, and the feeling of her inhibitions sliding away, she found she didn't care, and delved deep into the crowd, dragging Addie along with her until they had a small slice of space to dance in. Sober, she would've been irritated by the girls shrieking and stomping around beside them, but drunk, she found it was merely a passing thought in her head. The crowd was infectious; everybody seemed pumped, high on life, exhilarated. She found herself dancing without even knowing when she'd started, and luckily the drink made sure that she wasn't over-thinking the entire thing, because she knew perfectly well that when sober she was quite perhaps the worst dancer in the world - mainly because she felt like a complete fool.
"Whatever you say!" Faye cried back, nabbing one of Addie's hands and twirling her around expertly, swaying her hips from side to side along with the beat. It didn't matter if you looked like a complete idiot dancing somewhere like here, anyways, because nobody was even looking at you.

Addie felt a laugh bubbling out of her as she and Faye danced in the middle of the throng of highly intoxicated, highly sweaty, but highly amusing dancers. Everything was amusing at the moment, anyway, from Faye's dancing skills to her own, to the stupid music blaring from the speakers. It was like the ultimate teenage experience, at least according to what she had rather dubiously learned from her elder siblings, with the whole sneaking out late at night into a club with fake IDs and a best friend to party the night away with.
"This song is so awful," she said in Faye's ear, which was just about the only way she could make sure Faye would hear her with the noise level this loud, as she and Faye took turns spinning each other around. She felt some guy try to grind up behind her, but a quick elbow to the gut took care of that. Addie was hardly interested in the type of guy she'd meet on a loud, crowded dance floor. This was for her and Faye alone, and any guy she met tonight would not be grinding up against her before he bought a drink or two.
She twirled around Faye, laughing as her skirt spun around her legs, because everything was especially hilarious right now. Over Faye's shoulder, she found herself catching the eye of a tall blonde guy leaning up against the wall, nursing a drink and watching the dance floor with a spark of amusement in his half-smile. He was dressed rather nicely, which was one of Addie's favorite things about a guy, so she couldn't help herself when she smiled at him before the music changed and the dancing increased in tempo and she and Faye were spinning around each other yet again.
[ooc: sooo addie has found herself a new dance/make-out partner for when faye leaves for the bathroom i'm just saying wink wink nudge nudge]

"Tell me about it," Faye cried over the music, but despite the horrendous song choice she raised her arms high into the air and continued to dance, lifting her head and shouting: "If you can't join 'em, beat 'em, right, Ads?" She noticed, at that moment, a guy slithering up towards Addie and attempting to get in on some of the dancing action (and a bit more than dancing, she noted wryly) but Addie took care of him very deftly indeed, and Faye made a sarcastic salute to the guy, who scowled heavily and disappeared into the throng of dancers, evidently looking for someone else.
As the music increased in tempo and a medley of shrieks burst out from the girls beside them again, Faye spotted the guy eyeing Addie up, and grinned to herself. Tall, blonde, and very handsome indeed - even by Faye's tastes. He looked pretty dapper, too. Always good to find someone who knew how to put themselves together, even if Faye wasn't the most fashion-forward person in the world. He was undoubtedly very interested in Addie indeed, which didn't surprise Faye in the slightest.
Although elated by the alcohol, and although she could barely control her movements, she grabbed Addie's hand but, instead of twirling her, pulled her closer and yelled into her ear, "Looks like you've got an admirer, Ads!"

Addie giggled and snuck a glance back at the guy in the corner. He couldn't be that much older than her, and she clearly looked old enough to have fooled the bouncer, anyway. "I'd rather like to beat this song, if I'm being honest!" she shouted, returning her attention to Faye and the horrible music so she had a distraction from the mysteriously handsome guy. It was too bad wizard music wasn't available to muggle clubs; she could think of quite a few new bands that would make club music bearable. But that might just be her bias towards all things magical.
She laughed again, partly from the noise and excitement, and partly from the alcohol working its way steadily through her system, grabbing Faye's hands and twirling around so her skirt flared around her legs. The music of the obnoxiously loud song finally started to slow and turn into a different, slightly less obnoxious song, and she found herself locking eyes with the guy again. Faye had certainly noticed him, as well, judging by her grin.
"If he were an admirer, he'd come over and try to dance with me," she told Faye, though the distraction the guy offered made her stumble a bit into her friend. "Okay, what if I go over and talk to him? Think you'll be fine here on the dance floor?"
Even as she straightened up and spoke, her gaze wandered back towards Mister Tall, Fair, and Handsome back there. If she played her cards right, this evening could become exponentially more interesting.
