 Unlike Lord Voldemort, Maria Munroe didn't turn her status as an orphan into a reason to shun the world, and destroy it. Born somewhere around. Born November 7th, 2010, little is known about Maria's biological parents/family. She was left on the doorstep of St. Mary Catherine's with a note that read 'please take care of my baby' along with an old locket, and a birth certificate where the mother's name had been omitted. The church was unable to care for children, and turned Maria over to the adoption/foster care services. As a foster child, Maria bounced between a lot of homes basically 'auditioning' for adoption. When she was seven (the time she started to show her magical abilities), her last home before she was officially adopted, she was heavily abused in the name of the "lord". She had been taken in by Muggles--'The Smiths'--who were astounded to see her magical abilites and contributed it to the 'devil's play.' She ran away from the home and back to her stationed orphanage where at first, they didn't believe her about the Smith's, but once she showed them the scars and wounds (the iron burn) she'd received, they removed her officially from there. A year later, she'd lost all hopes of being adopted and having a family, and couldn't explain what was going on with her. She was doing things she couldn't explain and making things happen. One day, a woman came in with an older girl and asked to speak to her. The woman, Ameila Munroe, turned out to be a witch, who'd seen Maria playing with her magic and offered to take the little girl in. Maria, being as untrusting as she was, refused at first, but Amelia didn't give up that easily. She built a relationship with the young girl and soon, Maria allowed herself to be adopted. She acclimated quickly to her new living situations, including the fact that aside from gaining a mother and a father, she'd also gained an older sister: Piper. Amelia and Marcus, both only children, had adopted the newly magical Maria not only because they understood her better than muggles would have, but because they didn't want their daughter Piper to grow up without siblings. After having Piper, Amelia and Marcus could no longer have children, and had searched high and low for an addition to their family. Piper was 12 years old when Maria was adopted, and the two become very close, very quickly. When Piper went off to Hogwarts every year, Maria was devestated. Eventually, her own turn for Hogwarts came, and she was sorted into Gryffindor. Still not fully acclimated to the magical world, Maria became a bit of a hellraiser to hide when she was having difficulties with a subject or concept. She's now known as a bit of a hellraiser, and enjoys seeing the sly smirk form on Professor Hewer's lips whenever she's pushing someone's buttons and he's sent to handle her. Now she's highly protective over Amelia, her mother, and the rest of her now 'family'. Even though, deep down, Maria always feels like she will be tossed away again. ALIAS AGE ZONE |
