FRANCESCA ANTHEIA ZABINI
Indifferent. Unimpressed. Cynical. Intelligent. Driven. Vulnerable. Hurt. Observant. Those are just a few of many adjectives that could be used to describe Francesca Zabini, the as far as she's concerned none truly get to her core. She's a bit of an enigma, a walking paradox, and proud of that fact. She hates when people try to figure her out, but desperately wants someone to know her. She can't stand liars, but continues to deceive her mother; she can't stand lateness, but suffers from a serious lack of punctuality (unless she's heading to work). In truth, Francesca is a lost little girl on the outskirts of a world ubmerged in rules she refuses to abide. So lets go learn about Frannie? The Beginning. Francesca Antheia (Aun-the-uh) Zabini was born January 23rd, 2002 in Wiltshire, England to Blaise and Pansy (neé Parkinson) Zabini. She's essentially the reason that her parents married in the first place. After the second Wizarding War and Pansy and Draco Malfoy's break-up, Blaise and Pansy fell into a "friends with benefit" type relationship. The agreement eventually resulted in a pregnancy - one Pansy was set to terminate when her mother found out. Knowing that Blaise was a pureblood and set in the old ways of pure blood traditions, Mrs. Parkinson persuaded Pansy to keep her child. Once Blaise found out about the child, and much to the insistence of his own mother, he proposed to Pansy. The two married August of 2001, when Pansy was about three months pregnant. The two entered their marriage on mutual agreements. Much to Pansy's protests, six months later, they had a little baby girl and named her Francesca, for Blaise's mother and a nod to Blaise's Italian heritage. Her middle name Antheia is a nod to Pansy's name and her family's tradition of naming their daughter's after flowers; Antheia is greek for flower. Francesca's life growing up was rather uneventful. Her parents marriage was more so a conveinece, not really love filled, but Pansy doted on the young girl. Dressing her in the finest clothes, making certain she learned the pureblood traditions, and educating the young girl early on. Francesca began learning italian at the age of 4, along with French. She also started piano lessons. Pansy's goal was to make her daughter the perfect pureblood princess. Blaise doted on his daughter as well, though, giving her the moniker Princess, and taking her every summer to Italy to visit her grandmother. All in all, Frannie's beginnings were good. She had money and wanted for very little. It was necessarily love and affection that her parents gave her, but rather attention and control, though. When she was six years old Frannie received some news: she was going to be a big sister. Blaise and Pansy were having another child. Not quite of age to wrap her head around what that meant, Fran just thought she was getting a new toy. It wasn't until Zaira was born that Frannie realized that her little sister was another human being. Even then, however, Frannie began to call Zaira 'my baby' and consider her as such. She'd lay Zaira's clothes out for Pansy, brush the tuft of curls on the child's head, and even read the little girl bed time stories (Frannie started reading at the age of 3; she was quite the intelligent thing; she also showed her first signs of magic at 3, too, when she levitated her rattle into her hand). From six years old until she was sent off to Hogwarts at eleven, Fran dotted on Zaira. During that time, too Fran watched her parents relationship grow slightly. The two become a tad more affectionate of one another, and the Zabini household was a bit happier. If not by much. Hogwarts: At eleven years old Frannie boarded the Hogwarts express. Her long brown hair was in perfect french braid pigtails, and her robes were the finest of quality. The night before leaving Frannie had been instructed to only think Slytherin when sorted. So she did as she was told and was placed into Slytherin. Her parents had stressed to her that Slytherin was the best Hogwarts house to be in, and only the best were placed there. Fran was very good at that, doing what she was told that is. She'd spent her childhood wearing what her mother wanted her to, taking language lessons because her mother wanted her to, along with her piano lessons. The only time young Frannie found her true footing and a place to voice her own opinions, and not mimic her parents is when she took care of baby Zaira. Zaira was perfection to a little Frannie and Fran treated her like so. Matter of fact, Fran's hardest part of adjusting to Hogwarts was missing Zaira. But Fran still managed to adjust. She worked hard at her studies and mainly kept to herself. Pansy had always drilled it into Fran's head that she was better than everyone else, so the girl behaved as so. She spent the majority of her Hogwarts years like this; she had a couple friends but no one really close and she kept to herself mainly. Essentially, the first 15/16 years of Fran's life she lived as a 'yes girl.' Doing what her parents told her, getting the marks the demanded of her, and trying to live up to the moniker of pureblood princess. It wasn't until a party her parents held in the summer before her sixth year that Frannie started to realize that she was a living doll; someone for her parents to mold. While other kids were doing what they wanted, Fran was taking etiquette lessons, etc. so on and so forth. She also began to see that the way her parents raised her, their beliefs and culture, were outdated. Very out-dated in a post war world. The incident: While Francesca knew that her parents traditions, along with those of the pureblood world were outdated, she tried not to make waves for her sister, who was preparing to start her first year at Hogwarts. Frannie figured that if she kept the attention on her, Zaira would be spared the pressure that she was currently under. Though at this time Zaira was already taking Italian and French lessons, along with learning an instrument, as Frannie had. But the summer before her 6th year, as previously mentioned, things changed. It was a formal party her father had thrown for business purposes. Fran, who wasn't quite up to parties, spent the majority of the event sneaking glasses of wine and answering endless questions about her life aspirations - most that Pansy had already planned out. Fran was to take a semi meaningful job post Hogwarts and then find a good pureblood boy to settle down with. After the thousandth bout of endless questions, Fran escaped to the balcony of her bedroom, she didn't know however that she'd been followed. She'd been followed by a girl about her age, a daughter of one of her father's associates, who attended Beauxbatons. Fran, who usually didn't open up to strangers, found herself blabbing endlessly about the pressure her parents placed on her with the girl. Whether it was the alcohol she'd ingested, or the fact that she found the girl in front of her gorgeous, Fran kissed Elizabeth (the girl). The moment was magical for Fran, who while the rest of her counterparts in Hogwarts seemed to be finding pairs, had never really been attracted to boys. Many boys had asked her out, and she'd accepted a couple of dates, didn't find herself attracted to guys. Kissing Elizabeth, however, proved prophetic and eye opening. Things moved fast from there and Fran found herself pressed against the floor of her bedroom half dressed. Lost in her own lust and the feeling that another woman's lips gave her, Fran didn't hear her bedroom door open. It wasn't until Pansy was shouting at the top of her lungs and pulling Elizabeth away from Fran that Francesca realized what she was doing was "wrong" by her parents standards. In a rush Elizabeth disappeared from the room leaving Pansy and Frannie to face off. Frannie attempted to explain her actions, and even went as far as saying that she now knew why she didn't like boys, when Pansy smacked her. Hard and quick. Shocked, tears brimmed to the surface in Francesca's eyes and she tried to run, but once again Pansy had cornered her. She told Francesca that she was to never hear or see Francesca having feelings towards a woman or being with a woman in that way again. Blaise never found out about the incident; mother and daughter never brought it back up. From that moment Francesca's feelings towards her mother and especially her beliefs changed. She realized that she'd never been anything to pansy but a puppet. Final Hogwarts years & Love Life After the incident, Frannie kept quiet when it came to her mother. She slowly but subtle began to rebel in any way she could find. She quit both her French and Italian lessons and stopped playing the piano. She cut her hair and slowly began to search out other kids - ones that her mother wouldn't want her consorting with. She kept her exploits to herself mainly, however, because of Zaira, who'd been sorted into Hufflepuff. The youngest Zabini was the only Hufflepuff in a house full of Slytherins and honestly, Francesca was proud of her little sister. Looking back now Fran thinks that she could have been a Ravenclaw or even a Gryffindor had she not insisted the hat stick her in Slytherin. She'd never felt that she truly belonged in Slytherin. Besides keeping her sister grounded and in her studies, Francesca began to test the boundaries of her sexuality. She snogged everything from boys to girls, trying to ascertain if she was indeed a lesbian. She even went as far as sleeping with a boy in her year, but the thought of sleeping with another guy after that repulsed her. She liked the feel of soft skin and long hair, kneading a woman's chest, and the feeling of soft curves under her fingertips. Francesca was indeed a lesbian. But she didn't know how to tell that to her family. Her mother - who refused to acknowledge what she'd seen had already began making plans for a wedding for Francesca. In her seventh year of Hogwarts Francesca aced her NEWTS without problem and decided, after talking to her father, that she wanted to go into healing. She began the healing internship in the summer after Hogwarts completion. She also decided to move out on her own, no longer wanting to do what her parents instructed her to do. Pansy threatened to pull financial help, but Blaise refused to let his "Princess" go out on her own without financial security, and Francesca agreed. Post Hogwarts: Now Frannie is looking for the perfect girl and a way to tell her father who she is. The only people who know about her sexuality are her mother, herself, and a couple of colleagues at work who insist on setting her up (and of course her many one-night stands). The relationship she shares with Pansy is still strained at best, the two rarely talk, but Frannie visits home often for Zaira. She's afraid that her parent will try to stifle her sister like they did her. Maybe one day she'll have the confidence to tell her father, who sees this as Frannie's tiny rebellion that she'll come out of eventually, that she's happy - that's she even happier when she's with another woman snogging the daylights out of her. Random: Francesca is allergic to strawberries, she owns a black and white cat named Jacque; she's highly messy and very quiet at times. When she sees a pretty girl she's a shameless flirt and has gotten into arguments with her fair share of boyfriends. She likes to drink redwine like its going out of style and loves to wear jeans, leather jackets and t-shirts. RISS 22 GMT-8 |
