ALEXANDRIA EMILIA WOOD
FULL NAME: Alexandria Emilia Wood ETYMOLOGY: Alexandria means ‘defending men‘ and it‘s of Greek origin Emilia means ‘rival; emulating‘ and it‘s of Latin origin Wood is an archaic English word for ‘violently mad‘ which ties in with Alex‘s ‘manic enthusiasm‘ for Quidditch NICKNAMES: Alex, Lexie, Lex, Wood AGE/DOB: 16 / January 22nd, 2008 GENDER: Female BLOOD STATUS: Half-Blood SEXUALUTY: Heterosexual HOUSE: Ravenclaw WAND: Rowan, 7¾", unicorn tail hair PETS: A tabby cat named Missy but she really wants a salmander or baby dragon CLOTHING STYLE: The way you'd describe Alex's style of dress is definitely not girly. If you spot Alex around the school, chances are that you'll see her with a fedora perched on her head, and wearing shorts rather than the school skirt. Alex dislikes the school skirts - she finds them impractical, especially when you're sporty like herself. She's usually at her most comfortable in a shirt and a pair of shorts or jeans. Alex dislikes anything pink, lacy or girly, and clothes that show off her body in general. That's not to say that she despises dresses - in fact, if they're a decent length, colour and not too clingy, she'll wear them. Regarding jewellery, the one thing you’ll find is a constant with her is the Claddagh ring she wears on her right hand. Despite it being a traditionally Irish custom, she was given it by her mum on her eleventh birthday. The heart on the ring points towards her fingertip which signifies she’s currently not involved with anybody. Her other accessories are rather retro - old school watches, comic books made into necklaces, etc. LIKES: Quidditch, majority of sports, eating (in particular, cookies), hanging out with the guys (particularly her best friend, Bronson McLaggen), jamming to good rock music, waking up early, winning DISLIKES: Going to class, having panic attacks, her brothers being over-protective, doing homework, cat fights, the stigma attached to being a girl athlete, losing STRENGTHS: Her photographic memory (the only thing that keeps her from failing class), she has a rather diverse vocabulary of jinx and curses, confident in her ability to win, good at making up stuff on the spot, when she‘s criticised constructively she takes it on board WEAKNESSES: Tends to mouth off to a lot of authority figures, she has the inability not to speak her opinion, can‘t comfort somebody to save her life, too competitive and cocky at times, prone to panic attacks HABITS/QUIRKS: Tends to eat 24/7 when she‘s stressed, she can tell you the first 250 digits of pi, she can list off all the members to ever play for Puddlemere United, when it‘s cold then she‘s ridiculously cold WISHES/GOALS: Her biggest goal at the moment is to make Ravenclaw Quidditch Team Captain before she leaves school, then after she leaves school she aims to play for Puddlemere United just like her dad FEARS: Spiders, being deserted in a big crowd BOGGART: Her biggest fear is her Quidditch team losing a huge match all because of her. She doesn‘t like losing in general but if she was to be the main cause of it then she would be devastated. MIRROR OF ERISED: To be the best Quidditch player that the Wizarding World has ever known - not just better than the women but better than the men as well DEMENTOR: When she was about five, her mum took her and her brothers to go watch her father play with Puddlemere United and on the way to their seats, she let go of her mum's hand and got lost in the crowd. All she can remember is screaming and crying and her voice getting lost in the crowd. Eventually, she ended up having her first panic attack and landed herself in St. Mungo's. PATRONUS: Her best memory is when her dad took her flying for the first time. She'll never forget the feeling of him putting her on the broom and her feet levitating off the ground for the first time, then the awesome feeling of wind blowing past her face and into her hair. She loves the adrenaline rush she gets just from being on a broom. VERITASERUM: 1) Alex has never fancied anybody in her life and even though she's cool with that, it does make her feel slightly left out in regards to everybody else in her year. 2) She absolutely despises the fact that her brother treats her like she’s three years old even though she loves him to pieces. 3) For the entirety of her first year at Hogwarts, she was given the nickname of ‘Anxiety Alex’ by a bunch of nasty girls after she had a panic attack and had to be taken to the Hospital Wing when she sorted into Ravenclaw rather than Gryffindor. AMORTENTIA: Apple pie, broom polish, vanilla OVERALL PERSONALITY: Alex is an incredibly competitive person but only when it comes to sports. If it's class then she doesn't mind losing at all. She just needs to be the best physically. Be warned, she will do absolutely anything to win except for cheating. She hates cheaters at all and finds it pathetic that they have to go to extraordinary means to beat her. However, outside the playing field she's totally relaxed and down-to-earth. She's one of the guys. That's not to say that she doesn't get along with girls but she honestly prefers to hang around a set group of guys because she finds it easier to get along with them. She's a bit of a tomboy. If she's having emotional troubles, she'll go to a girl though. She's not a damsel-in-distress and if she ended up crying in front of a guy, she'd honestly be a bit mortified. Due to the fact that she hangs around guys probably a bit too often, she's quite oblivious to anybody if they're flirting with her. She's never fancied anybody, and she‘s never had a boyfriend. But she's not insecure because of this. She feels quite liberated that she doesn't need a boyfriend to feel good about herself. She likes to think she's quite confident. She gets stressed quite often over a number of things like an upcoming game if she's not prepared and she's prone to having a panic attack because of it, something that is somewhat of a weakness of hers and she's embarrassed about even though she won't admit it. Alex could be considered quite... well, blunt. She's respectful towards other's opinions if she doesn't take complete offence to them but if she does then she's quite uninhibited and mouthy towards them. She speaks her mind and isn't afraid to share her opinion. She doesn't believe in bottling your feelings up. It's not that she's completely tactless, it's rather that she doesn't think before she speaks. If somebody's upset around her, she's quite awkward around them. She'll try and make a joke or awkwardly excuse herself. She's not a very emotional person and she doesn't see why people let themselves get caught up in things. That's why she's so nonchalant towards the rest of her year. She thinks that "they should grow a brain and just get over it because there's more important things than a pitiful little fight that can be fixed by simply saying that you're sorry." FATHER: Oliver Wood, 47, Pureblood. He‘s currently the trainer for Puddlemere United, ex-keeper for Puddlemere United. MOTHER: Katie Wood (nee Bell), 44, Half-Blood. She’s currently a sport journalist, ex-chaser for the Holyhead Harpies. SIBLINGS: Bowman Wood, 20, Half-Blood, ex-Gryffindor Angus Wood, 18, Half-Blood, seventh year Hufflepuff OVERALL HISTORY: Alex grew up as the youngest in a family who solely devoted their time and energy towards Quidditch, something that she didn't mind at all. She's been riding a broom ever since she can remember and she's got a massive passion for the game. When she was little, her time was often spent being passed from Quidditch player to Quidditch player and hanging around the locker rooms with Bronson McLaggen whose dad was the coach of Puddlemere United - the team her Dad was the captain of and played for. Bronson and Alex eventually became best friends through their mutual love of Quidditch and have stuck together ever since - they got sorted into the same house at Hogwarts. She showed her first sign of magic when somebody accidentally knocked her dad off his broom during practice and she sent a Quaffle soaring towards their head. She got in loads of trouble afterwards but she hasn't regretted it a day since. Like most students who go to Hogwarts, Alex received her welcome letter when she was eleven and spent most of the morning acting like she was hyped up on sugar. She spent majority of the train trip to Hogwarts tagging behind her brothers until they literally got Bronson to drag her into a compartment full of fellow first years and made her go be nice to them. During her long wait to be sorted, she had full expected to be a Gryffindor because people had been telling her she was the epitome of one her entire life. She got a complete shock when the Sorting Hat shouted out, “RAVENCLAW!” instead. She was left sitting on the stool for a full minute until she was finally given a gentle nudge towards the Ravenclaw table where she was greeted kindly enough. But despite this, she ended up having a full-blown panic attack and ended up being taken to the Hospital Wing where she was giving a calming draught - something she now carries on her person at all times. For the rest of the year, however, the nickname “Anxiety Alex” was given to her and stuck like spellotape. Alex's second year at Hogwarts wasn't anything big. Nothing exciting really happened to her other than her deciding that she wasn't really that interested in school and that Quidditch was her true calling - although she'd known the latter since she rode her first broom. She started skipping classes and passing her tests through use of her photographic memory but other than that nothing really important happened to her. During Alex's third year, again, nothing exciting happened. She mostly just watched the rest of her year fight and argue whenever she bothered to actually rock up during classes and then ended up slipping out half-way through the lesson anyway. This has earned her detention possibly more times than anybody else in her year and that’s one of the main reasons that she doesn’t get good marks in class - because she’s never actually there. Nothing too exciting has really happened in Alex's life as of yet. She had her first kiss in fourth kiss from Dhruv Cornfoot in the middle of The Hog's Head which pretty much resulted in her running away. That's been her one and only kiss so far. She hasn't fancied anyone too noteworthy as of yet - she's of the opinion that people tend to be intimidated by how strong-willed she can be. BREE NINETEEN NSW, AUS |
