LUCY MAY WEASLEY
it was on august 17th, 2008, that the world was blessed with notorious hothead lucy weasley. unlike her older sister molly, lucy looked the epitome of weasley from the very start with her little tuff of red hair and deep blue eyes. the only thing lucy really inherited from her mother was her short stature but even then she grew out of that when she hit a growth spurt at age fifteen, eventually growing to 5’6”, only a few inches shorter than her older sister. when lucy was brought into the house of workaholics percy and audrey weasley, there was already another girl there – her big sister, molly, whom she adored and looked up to right up until she hit hogwarts. to her, molly was the person she wanted to grow up to be like and even though she both smaller and younger than her sister, if anybody dared to pick on molly then they’d have to deal with a furious lucy weasley, hands planted on her hips and that already unimpressed eyebrow arched up. during her childhood, lucy didn't have too many friends, preferring to hole up in her room and read instead... even on family occasions she wasn't too social. this was mainly because she'd quickly formed the opinion as the youngest of the weasley-potter clan that she was too mature for them and she didn't want to go play 'throw the gnome'. she did, however, participate in their happenstance games of quidditch. even though she was probably better suited for the position of seeker because she was so small, she argued her way into being the chaser for almost every single game otherwise she'd kick up a fuss. though lucy's friends as a child wasn't too copious, she did have one person she relied on quite a lot: lorcan scamander. despite being two years older than her, she was charmed by him from the very start because she actually felt he cared, a feeling she didn't get to experience very often as the youngest and smallest weasley with her parents working around the clock every single day. whenever she stormed off, he was the one to chase after her and try to calm her day. he was the one she told all her secrets to. the feeling of security and safeness with lorcan started developing into actual feelings as they began to get older but that was something she would keep a secret from everyone for quite a few years - though there were, of course, people who always suspected something. like any other magical kid in the uk, lucy received her letter to hogwarts on her eleventh birthday and she was beyond stoked - although naturally, she refrained from squealing and jumping up and down... or at least, she did in public. in her bedroom, however, that's another matter. instead, she acted quite maturely about the letter, just shrugging and saying that it wasn't a big deal. of course, her entire family was over the moon that the youngest was set to go to hogwarts in the fall along with lily and hugo. during the sorting ceremony, lucy was second-last to approach the stool, all nerves on the inside but keeping a calm, almost cool exterior. she folded her shaking hands in her lap, not particularly worried about where she was about to be sorted... the hat barely brushed lucy's head before it shouted out, "slytherin!" there was a moment of silence, of shock, because never in their wildest dreams had her family thought lucy was going to become a slytherin - if anything, she was set to be a gryffindor or a ravenclaw. there was a pause before a smatter of applause broke out amongst the students, her favourite cousin roxanne shooting her a supportive but somewhat worried smile from the ravenclaw table as she joined her cousin albus at the slytherin table. during lucy's first year, things were pretty smooth sailing with her grade's being in the top 10 percentage of her year and the fact that she found a best friend in the youngest malfoy girl despite being almost polar opposites. she remained rather quiet for the first couple of weeks or so before she really started to prove the sorting hat right, becoming more and more opinionated as the days went along... thanks to this, there were also downfalls to her first year. her detention record was not exactly in pristine condition with her 'i'm-better-than-you' facade. as a lover of books and the youngest in a large, magical family, lucy considered herself to be quite well-versed in all her subjects already and she was the first to speak up if she thought somebody was wrong, no matter how high they were in the social ladder. it was also in her first year when a new light shone upon her sister, molly, and lucy started becoming more aware of how she'd changed. although she was still sweet and molly-esque as ever, it didn't take long for the rumours of her sister's habit of getting around with just about anyone to reach her ears. unfortunately, the way her sister flounced around hogwarts quickly damaged lucy's reputation before she even had the chance to prove to everyone that she wasn't just another tired ol' weasley, a replica of the rest of her family. people tended to think she was going to follow in her sisters footsteps by being easy and always having a strong sense of self-respect, lucy was quick to let them down. at first, she was mortified that people thought she was just going to let them have their way with her but that soon changed into irritation which quickly evolved into outright anger and indignation. needless to say, lucy's previously high opinion of her sister instantly came crashing to the ground and they began drifting apart, bickering even more than usual whenever they spoke. as lucy grew older, her viewpoint of the world started developing into something cynical and it turned out that she actually fit the slytherin stereotype to a t. though unlike most slytherins, she did not always keep a calm and level head. somewhere along the way she was dubbed to be 'angry weasley' due to her constant outbursts that mainly consisted of snarky insults inbetween a long string of curse words and occasional throwing of whatever she could seize. however, that only happened when she was very cross. mainly people would just get a lashing of lucy's tongue before she told them to piss off. of course, lucy's bitchiness wasn't without reason. in her second year, she started getting picked on by a couple of people who opposed her views and even a girl a few years above her named dianna grey who would later be the bane of lucy's existence, calling her names and basically shattering lucy's self-esteem which had always been on the lesser side despite her seemingly confident persona - that wasn't so much confidence as much as it was her not giving a fuck about what people thought. it was also in third year that things started happening as well, important things to do with lucy's relationship with lorcan scamander, one of the only people outside her family who she felt genuinely cared about her and who was her only real friend as a child. naturally, as these things always tend to go, lucy fell head over heels in love with him, a truth that didn't come out until her third year (his fifth year) at hogwarts. when lorcan began a relationship with another girl, it began affecting their friendship in negative ways. lucy was stupidly, irrationally jealous of the girl and she hated the fact that lorcan was spending more time with his girlfriend than he was with her. it was selfish, but nobody ever said lucy weasley wasn't. after lucy confronted lorcan in the library one day after ditching her to spend time with his precious girlfriend, she blew up at him. things were thrown (as per usual in lucy's fights) and the fact that she loved him came tumbling out before she could stop it. as she turned on foot to storm off, absolutely mortified, lorcan grabbed her hand and pulled her into a kiss - a heartstopping, perfect kiss that she had waited for since she was eleven that was ruined only moments later when lorcan's girlfriend caught them. lorcan and his girlfriend broke up instantly. after the scene played out, lorcan admitted that he didn't know why he kissed lucy nor did he know how he felt about her because she was like 'family' to him and he didn't want to ruin their friendship because he valued it too much. lucy was furious and a big argument ensued which resulted in them barely speaking to this day. it was in her third year that the tension really began running high at home with her parents picking fights with each other 24/7 about whatever they could find - usually lucy and molly would be woken up at ungodly hours of the night during school breaks due to their parents coming home late, having been 'held back at work' as per usual. already cynical about her self-involved parents - she hated the fact that they didn't listen to her, too wrapped up in their work, barely paid attention to her - lucy's irritation of them just grew and grew. the fact that her mother was cheating on her father didn't come out until recently, as in the past holidays - even though percy may have suspected before then, his suspicions weren't confirmed until zacharias smith was standing on their doorstep in a drunken haze, begging her mother to come run away with him and leave everything behind. it was in the middle of dinner and even though lucy and molly were told to go upstairs, they hid away on the stairs, hearing every word and the fight that ensued broke their heart. instead of their normal screaming, their father just shook his head and told audrey (their mother) to just leave because he was tired, so tired of trying to pretend that he was happy with her any more. within a few hours, audrey just packed up and left, kissing the girls on the top of their heads and whispering she loved them, something lucy still to this day doesn't believe and she hasn't spoken to her mother since despite audrey's best intentions to stay in touch. with her mother gone, lucy and molly were left to pick up the pieces of their broken father, a shell of the man he used to be. and now, lucy is about to commence her sixth year at hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. beyond whoever molly has told about their parents split and her family, nobody knows about her parents having split up and lucy fully intends to keep it that way. chances are that lucy is going to be angry, brass and rude as ever so people ought to look out for a bitter redhead, probably lighting a cigarette.
