There was something pretty damn splendid about having the house all to yourself. Danni was all for socializing and usually she got terribly restless and bored all by herself, but she'd shopped until she dropped and she'd been out and about for the past couple of weeks and frankly she needed some rest and relaxation time. Devyn was out doing Merlin Knew What with Merlin Knew Whom and her parents had informed her the previous day that they'd be gone before she woke up and back rather late, as they had an entire day mapped out, and so Danni had lapped up every single little luxury she could - she'd turned up her music as loud as it could go, filling the house with the sounds of bubbly, cheerful pop music, the sort most people detested and she absolutely adored from the very bottom of her heart. She'd then had a shower, washed her hair, used her most expensive mango-flavoured body butter as a treat, danced around the house warbling along with her CD (she really, really couldn't sing) and finally decided that the day was far too sunny to spend inside. The sun was at its highest point and she was going to soak up as much of it as she could. And so she switched off the stereo, threw on her bikini top and a pair of old shorts, selected her biggest, poshest and most expensive sunglasses and, armed with sun-lotion, skipped out into the back garden. She left the back-door open, so she could be on guard if Devyn came home unexpectedly early (it was always a good idea to be on guard with Devyn about) and set a towel down on the grass, positioned in the very centre of their garden, in order to catch as much sunlight as possible. She very nearly settled down there and then, but decided that she needed a drink, and perhaps a book and a magazine or too, and rushed back into the house.
She returned juggling a large glass of pink lemonade (ever since she had watched The Sound of Music when she was very young, she'd had a near-obsession with pink lemonade), a manual on dragons she had picked up at a dusty old bookshop with a dodgy smell and a shopkeeper who had eyed her warily, as though expecting her to be a hooligan, and a stack of fashion magazines. That was when she settled herself down, leaving the reading materials and drink to her right and opting for a nice snooze before she got stuck into anything.
She got about five minutes of snoozing, however, when she heard the sound of someone approaching. Sitting upwards groggily and shoving her sunglasses to the very top of her head, she craned her neck slightly, wondering if Devyn had come home early. Or maybe her parents. In fairness, she supposed it could've been Karina, or another friend, popping over for a spontaneous visit - the doors were all open, and they were connected to the Floo Network, after all.
"Who is it?" She called. "Beware, there's very serious sunbathing going on here. No room for amateur sunbathers."
______ ooc. hope it's okay!!

There was nothing Damien found more drab than sitting alone on his family estate with no company. Even his grandparents had gone out for the day. Ella was with Lucy, Scorpius didn't bother to make his way around much unless it was a special occasion, for the most part, and his parents - well Damien couldn't be certain, but he thought they'd said something vaguely about a 'date'. Disgusting thought really, his parents on a date. So he'd decided to solve his issues by heading out too. At first he'd thought of owling Louis, to see if the tosser was up for anything, but the thought was quickly driven from his head when the prospect of being stuck with both Louis and O'banion entered his head. Not that Damien didn't like O'banion, but being with both of them together was like sitting in the Hufflepuff common room; common sense was almost nonexistent. But then again most people probably said the same when Damien, Louis, and Devyn all found themselves in the same vicinity.
So he'd decided on owling Devyn, who'd answered with a vague, i'll be home shortly. He'd almost answered back that she was probably off diddling Scamander, but stopped himself just short. He was all for teasing Devyn, but wanted to see her reaction next time he teased her about Lorcan. Off he went, taking the floo network. He'd hit the fireplace and felt the familiar swooshing around him before he landed upright in the Oberlin living room.
Waiting a few moments to make certain that the Oberlin parents weren't home, though he found it rather easy to charm at times, he shouted for Devyn, though he was certain she hadn't -or couldn't - hear him over the loud pop music. "Oi, Devyn, try to make yourself look presentable and get your arse out here!" he shouted louder, waiting for the familiar thud of her door, and cussing. When it didn't come, Damien decided to roam out into the backyard. He spotted her immediately, laying on the ground, Danni Oberlin. Barely clothed, long legged, and blonde, sun bathing. He couldn't help but grin a bit, as he shuffled over. He hadn't quite noticed it before, well before he had Aggy to stare at, but Danni was pretty fit.
"Well, I know at least one of you isn't a vampire." Damien commented in regards to Devyn and Danni, as he came to stand next to her, out of the direction of the sunrays. "I didn't know sunbathing was a serious business, either. Thought it was suppose to be enjoyable?" he questioned, jokingly, forgetting for a moment what/who he'd come for.
------- oof, this is bad, sorry!

Alright, so whoever Danni had been expecting, she certainly hadn't been expecting Damien Malfoy, which she'd decide later would excuse the fact that she gave a little yelp, sitting up so suddenly that her sunglasses toppled from the tip of her head onto her nose, arms moving about in a frenzy to cover herself up. Although she had a few dresses that showed off an ample amount of skin, she didn't quite fancy her sister's best mate seeing her practically topless (the absolute horror) because there was something mildly unnerving about Damien Malfoy at the best of times. Scrambling to her feet and very nearly knocking the glass of lemonade over, she whipped off her sunglasses, surveying him with confusion.
"Devyn's not in," she managed finally. And then: "And I am not fully dressed, so I'd appreciate it if you'd avert your gaze for, like, thirty seconds." Without waiting for him to respond, she flitted up towards the back-doors, where she'd left herself her t-shirt, and dragged it on as quickly as she could, before spinning around and facing him once again, arms folded and eyes deeply distrustful. Willing herself to be confident, she sauntered back towards him and announced, "As I previously stated, my darling sister's not home. She won't be back for a while, I expect. And, no, I'm certainly not a vampire," she said with great dignity, slotting her sunglasses back on again. "And, also previously stated, there was serious sunbathing going on. I want a tan by the end of the summer, and I don't need interruption. I'm sure you can see yourself out." She flashed him a half-apologetic smile which sort of ruined her bitchy, confident facade, but she didn't settle down again. She hovered, waiting for him to leave in order for her to be able to ditch the t-shirt again and go back to catching some sun.

Danni's theatrics caused Damien quite the amusement as he stood in the grass, watching her scramble to her feet in haste. For a small moment he thought of inspecting his shoulders to see if he'd grown another head since her reaction wasn't one he'd expected. Not that he expected to be welcomed with open arms, either. While Devyn was his best friend, slowly he began to realise that he didn't know much about her twin - well aside from the glaringly obvious facts. Danni was the bubbly blonde Gryffindor, and Devyn; most were lucky to walk away with all limbs intact after coming in to contact with her.
Her mouth moved a mile a minute, and Damien tried his best to pay full attention, though he couldn't help but let his eyes roam, falling downward as she flitted away for a shirt. He'd have turned around, respecting her privacy if only she'd granted him the moment to do so. He studied her with a raised brow, wondering how long she was going to continue prancing and storming about before she granted him his answer. He could almost gauge just how much of a front she was attempting to put forth in his presence; she was clearly trying to come off bitchier and angrier than she was. It was almost cute, watching her draw herself up to full height and shove her glasses down onto her face and attempt agitation; she was clearly not used to trying to be well foreboding and off putting. Her smile killed it, though, and without hesitation he returned the grin.
"Well I owled her a just a little bit ago and she said she'd be back shortly," he explained with a shrug of his shoulders. "And sunbath all you want, I won't be an interruption, while I just kind of relax in the background, ay? Perhaps I should soak up the sun, too, a bit? Us Malfoys are notoriously pasty. You could show me how to be a - what'd you say? Professional sunbather?" he offered with a chuckle, almost flirting but not quite, though he knew that if she kept insisting he leave, he supposed he'd head home, to his empty manor and stare at his bedroom ceiling or something; Merlin he needed more friends.

"She did?" Danni demanded, before huffing very audibly indeed. So much for a Devyn-free day. "Oh...okay, then..." she trailed off, somewhat unsure of what to do. Still hovering a tad awkwardly, she inspected the boy in front of her with a crease appearing between her eyebrows. He didn't seem to be too bad - he wasn't properly making fun of her, nor was he sneering at her and insulting her. She half-expected that from him rather a lot - he was mates with Devyn, after all, and something told her you couldn't be softy with Devyn around. Well, perhaps except for Louis Weasley, it struck her. He seemed quite nice. Not a softy, exactly, but nice. Her thoughts running at an indecent speed, she nearly missed what he was saying, but once she had it sorted out in her head, she cocked her chin upwards.
"Sunbathing is an art, okay," she informed him. "You can't just learn it in an afternoon. But..." she allowed the thought to linger, scrutinizing him once more. She bit her lip, ran a hand through her hair, and finally rolled her eyes before saying: "Fine. Fine, you can stay. We don't have to sunbathe," she said hurriedly (she didn't want to have to take the top off). "I can - get you a drink?" She said uncertainly. "But please, be classy," she added. "We have some alcohol, yes, but I'd rather you didn't get pissed at my house. Personally, I'm sticking to pink lemonade," she retrieved her glass and pointedly took a sip.

Damien watched with curiosity as Danni hovered, wondering if his presence was making her uncomfortable. It hadn't been his intention, and he really didn't feel like heading home, so he tried his best to flash an 'I come in peace' smile at her, and then nodding at her question. Sure he'd owl'd her about 45 minutes ago, that was a little while ago wasn't it? His mind drifted, wondering just where in the hell Devyn was. He'd spent the entire summer so far just exchange letters with her instead of actually hanging out. Meanwhile she was off banging nature boys on countertops. He turned his attention back towards the blonde in front of him. Contrary to Devyn's constant compliants, Danni seemed like a nice girl, definitely far more tolerable than Devyn asserted she was. "Yup, back later, though knowing Dev, who the fuck knows . . ." he commented, watching as she cocked her head back up in his direction. He listened to her words and had to stifle his laughter.
Sunbathing, an art? Maybe she was a little looney. "Right, an art!" he nodded in agreement, almost saluting, but stopping himself shy of doing so. "An art that can't be learned in an afternoon, under the sun, basking in it's glow, it has to be taught, like an ancient art . . ." he teased harmlessly, while she seemed deep in contemplation. Every now and then she'd turn or scrunch her nose and Damien could see the resemblance between she and Devyn. "No sunbathing it is, then. Wouldn't want to blind you with my alabaster skin, yet insanely chiseled chest anyways," he joked at his own expense as he glanced down at his pale arms; maybe it was just a malfoy thing. But the chiseled chest part wasn't a joke; he'd been playing quidditch for years and had the body to prove it.
"Nah, don't want to be pissed when your sister gets back anyways, and it's too hot in the sun. I think I could go for one of those, too. Pink lemonade?" he questioned, not too familiar with the drink.

When he directed a smile towards her, Danni felt her own face automatically relax into a grin. He wasn't winding her up or warding her off, or acting like she was the psycho bitch from hell that Devyn always seemed to assume she was, and that seriously surpassed her expectations. "Seriously, with Devyn, it could be at any time," she said, with a shake of her head, blonde curls bouncing. "That girl needs to learn a thing or two about social niceties," she informed him, but she wasn't too altogether pissed off. After all, she wanted to prove to Devyn's friends that she wasn't an idiot, and this was working out okay, wasn't it?
Or perhaps it wasn't. The sunbathing comments had been verging on idiocy, after all. Alright, so she took her sunbathing seriously. She also took her nails, her hair, and her wardrobe choices seriously, along with Care of Magical Creatures and watching every rom-com in the history of rom-coms. So she wasn't quite genius material. She cocked an eyebrow slightly as he teased her - but it was only teasing, after all, so she allowed herself to smile at him, responding with, "Absolutely right. Although in some cases, it can't even be taught. Often times, it's a natural gift..." she finished off this joke with jazz hands, very obviously indicating that she was in possession of that gift. Unfortunately, the minute he brought up his chiseled chest, her gaze slipped slightly. It wasn't intentional, of course - but how could he expect her not to look? Chiseled chest. Boys with chiseled chests were the worst. Or boys with dimples. Or boys with stubble. (Boys in general were the worst.) She dragged her gaze back up to his face quickly, reminding herself that this was Damien Malfoy.
"You've never had pink lemonade?" She looked positively befuddled by this information.

When Danni returned his grin with a smile of her own, Damien relaxed in contentment, enjoying the fact that she wasn't going to throw a Devyn sized tantrum and demand he leave. She was throwing her weight around or shrieking like a banshee. All of Devyn's comments about her sister came rushing through his mind, and one by one he began to see that his best friend had a way of exaggerating. Aside from the tanning comment, Danni seemed. . . . normal. Her next comments caused a chuckle to escape Damien's lips. "You want to be the one to tell her that, or should I?" He raised his brows as he trailed off, "I mean, either way it'll end up in something being thrown," he added jokingly, though it was no joke.
"Absolutely," Damien agreed, unable to withhold the salute this time as he brought his hand to his forehead and nodded. A part of him was curious about whether or not Danni was seriously serious about sunbathing, then he thought of Aggy. She'd loved to sunbath and it was something she had been serious about. With her long blonde locks and gorgeous smile. But he wasn't thinking about Aggy; that was done and over. He was standing in Devyn's backyard, talking to her sister. It was no time to stew over or miss Aggy, after all, he'd been the asshole in that situation. Slipping his hands into his pocket, Damien swayed in place, snapping back into attention when he saw Danni doing something with her hands. Unable to hold back his laughter, he nearly doubled over at her gesture and missed the fact that she'd been gazing at his torso.
"What the hell was that, Danni?" he asked, repeating the gesture in good nature when it dawned on him. Had he ever called Danni anything other than Dev's sister, or the blonde Oberlin? Not he suddenly felt guilt creep into him, knowing all too well what it was like to stand in your siblings shadow. "Trying to fly away?" he repeated the gesture, and continued his good nature teasing.
At her next question he straightened up and shook his head, searching his mind for whether or not he'd ever had pink lemonade. "I don't think so, is it muggle? i mean, i've had lemonade, Gran's lemonade, which she's never made - I don't think she's ever step foot into a kitchen, actually. But never pink. Do you charm it or is there a fruit out there i've never heard of?" he asked in curiosity.

"What, do you think I'm scared of my sister?" She demanded, flipping her hair back and fixing him with a look she very much hoped was intimidating. As she said it, she realised that she wasn't scared of Devyn - not really. Perhaps somewhat anxious around her, but often the anxiety was only present when she was anticipating seeing Devyn. When she was with Devyn, she could usually hold her own rather well. This epiphany cheered her somewhat, and she said, brightly this time, "Don't worry, mate, I've got a good sense of when to duck. Imperative when you have to spend time with Devyn."
He actually saluted her, which was quite cute, really, if a bit cringey. Then again, she was the one who had insisted on bringing out the jazz hands, so she supposed they were both as bad as each other. Was Damien Malfoy always like this? For some reason, she'd had a very specific image of him in her head. She'd imagined him as cold, and nasty, and deeply sarcastic - a male Devyn, really. She supposed it just went to show that she was far too snappy to judge people. Immediately it went on her list of things to improve herself on, despite the fact that she forgot what was on that list so regularly that it hardly made a difference.
"Jazz hands," she said defensively. "You know - " she raised both hands and waggled her fingers once again, putting as much panache into it as she possibly could. "It's a classic," she informed him. "But, like sunbathing, an art." She shrugged after this, a smile tweaking the corners of her lips, just to let him know that she was joking.
Her jaw positively dropped. Wizards didn't have pink lemonade? When did this happen? How did this happen? Why was wizarding kind denying itself the heavenly stuff? Maybe wizards did, and Damien's family didn't go in for something as frivolous as pink lemonade. She'd heard weird things about the Malfoys, along with the bad things. "No, it's - well," she was stumped for a second. "I don't actually know how they make it, but oh my god you have to try it!" She said this almost forcefully, beckoning for him to follow her inside as she made her way towards the back doors. "It's the best drink ever. I made Mum buy it after I watched the Sound of Music for the first time." Something occurred to her just then, and she turned suddenly, saying, in a very flat voice: "Please say you've seen the Sound of Music."

He wasn't quite sure how to respond to her question, in all actuality. He didn't think that Danni was afraid of her sister, but he didn't exactly see the blonde holding her own against her sister either. But he was learning, and rather quickly, too, not to underestimate the clearly nicer, more approachable Oberlin twins. Devyn was his best friend, but it was nice to talk to someone who didn't tell him, both jokingly and seriously, to fuck off every five minutes. Though admittedly, he deserved some of Devyn's insults; he enjoyed pushing her buttons - a lot. Winding up Devyn was some times the highlight of his day. "You're probably as much afraid of Devyn, as I am of Scorpius," he answered her truthfully. He was not in the slightest afraid of his brother - wary, at times, but not afraid. "You're preaching to the choir; i'm pretty sure she's thrown everything and anything at me. Hazardous occupation, being he friend, isn't it?" he finished, laughing at her last comment as the list of objects Devyn had thrown at him through the years floated through his head. Shoes, muggle objects, utensils. He was sure the list was going to get even longer the more time they stayed friends.
They continued back and forth in jest for a few moments, mimicking each other's hand motions. Danni once again did 'jazz' hands and Damien couldn't help but hoot in laughter. It was probably the most ridiculous thing he'd ever seen, in all honesty. Who'd created that? Flailing fingers like a nutcase and all. Though he wasn't one to judge too harshly - some times. "It's an art I think i'll never achieve," he told her, watching in wonder as his comment about pink lemonade nearly made Danni's jaw drop. She was cute when she gave into her animated side. She was kind of sweet, too.
Unable to explain the drink to him, Damien followed behind Danni and into the house to actually try it. He let his eyes roam as he followed behind her and took note of the fact that her legs were quite enticing. As she turned on him, he made certain to bring his gaze up rather quickly. "Sound of what?" he asked, furrowing his brows as they came to a stop.

"That's...cryptic?" Danni responded, a bit cautiously, because she wasn't entirely aware of Damien's relationship with her brother. "Scorpius doesn't seem that scary though, really. Not as scary as Devyn acts," she added critically, "So I don't think that's quite a fair comparison. Scorpius just seems..." she flailed around for the right word for a minute, and then settled on an apprehensive: "Grumpy? He seems sort of grumpy. And sarky. Hardly the sort to throw things, though," she rolled her eyes at this, but couldn't stop herself from a giggle escaping her lips. "God, you poor thing," she said, although any sympathy shown was somewhat tarnished by the snort that followed this. "It's probably improved your reflexes for Quidditch, though!" She suggested, determined to keep on the bright side of the spectrum.
"Don't feel too bad," she told him seriously, when he admitted that he'd probably never achieve either of the arts she had so many years ago perfected. "I'm a past master at these things. Lots of practice. And natural skill." She chucked in another show of jazz hands, for luck.
"The Sound of Music!" She blurted, utterly shocked by his ignorance, and vaguely wondering why, when she'd turned around, he'd had to drag his gaze upwards. That was irrelevant, however - she had a more pressing matter at hand. "It's only, like, the best movie ever. Well," she cut herself off, "Other than Tiffany's. And Roman Holiday. Obviously. And a couple of others. It's in the top ten best movies ever, at the very least. You know? With the nuns? And the singing kids? And Julie Andrews?" Her voice reached a higher note with every question. "It won five Oscars," she informed him knowledgeably, "And - oh my god - you have to know the song Sixteen Going On Seventeen. I can't sing at all, but..." she screwed up her face, and made a brave attempt at humming the tune. She was terribly off-key, and well aware she didn't sound anything at all like how the song ought to.
