MOIRA TEAGAN ADARA FINNIGAN
![]() Moira Teagan Adara Finnigan was born on April 10th, 2006 in Ireland, to Seamus and Lavender Finnigan. She is the third eldest daughter to grace the family and is smack dab in the middle of her siblings. She's got three younger siblings and three older siblings. But that has never affected Moira. Born into a family with seven kids, she's always felt lucky to have been able to spend time alone with her parents when the chances have come up. Seamus and Lavender managed the time between the kids quite well, actually. Of course, thought, it wasn't always the perfect life. Money was spread thinner and thinner each year a new child was born. The four oldest siblings are probably closest (emotionally, etc) than the younger four (if Moira were to be counted in that grouping.) Moira likes to spend time with all of her siblings, but she likes to feel like an adult more and more with each passing day, so she spends most of her free time with Tommy, Brigid and Cara. (But sometimes she feels as if she doesn't fit in with any of her siblings as there are three years between the next eldest and three years between the next youngest, with Moira plopped in the middle. That is about the extent of her 'middle sibling' syndrome.) Maybe it's because of this that she finds she's extremely sensitive to others and their feelings. During the course of her youth, Moira floated between likes and hobbies. At first, she did what her older siblings did just because it was someone to play with, but by the time she was five, she was already an independent little girl. Moira was sent to a muggle school with her brother and sisters, where she learned all of the basics to make progress through the coming years. She made friends fast because of her happy disposition and open attitude. Even as a child, she had a knack for fashion. Her family didn't have a lot of money, so they didn't always get new clothes each other. Moira decided to take her own clothes or the hand-me-downs and do different things with them. Her mother taught her how to sew as well. The girl also liked to help her mother out in the kitchen, baking and cooking (especially on holidays); she still does to this day. When Moira was eight, she was sitting in the front yard during springtime, wishing that grass would grow and flowers would bloom. Much to her surprise, one flower sprouted from the ground - it was her first sign of magic. Moira ran inside to tell everyone in her family. She plucked the flower from the ground and kept it in a box full of possessions - she still has it. All of Moira's life, she's felt very sympathetic towards people - especially if they've had a troubles in their past. She never understood why she's felt this way and she still doesn't totally know; but sometimes she'll actually go through the emotions the other person is going through, especially if she's close to the person. Moira graduated from her primary school when she was eleven and that September, she didn't go to another muggle school - instead, she followed her older siblings to Hogwarts. It didn't take long for the sorting hat to place her in Hufflepuff - she's a very gentle human being. Moira was a little disappointed, but got over it quickly. The other Hufflepuffs were so nice and inviting, she fit right in. The other students from her house did indeed become her family. Her first two years at Hogwarts flew by. She was an average student, much more concerned about her clothing or chatting with friends than anything else. When her third year came, Moira was allowed to pick two electives. She picked Divination for one of them and fell in love with the class instantaneously. She felt connected to the subject. She's been taking it ever since. When she was fourteen, Moira had her first kiss. And her first snog. Even though she didn't feel attracted to the guy and she knew he didn't feel anything towards her, she was still ecstatic! It was like a right of passage. Kissing/snogging, make-up, periods... they were all signs that she could be considered a woman. Moira liked to entertain the thought a lot, even though she knew she had a lot of growing up to do. As for snogging, she didn't do it again, but she did kiss other boys. Her fifth year came and it was stressful. OWLs were at the end of the year and she had to a lot to keep up with. Moira knew she needed to settle down that year. She did her best and passed most of the OWLs she had to sit. Just because she's a witch doesn't mean she doesn't have muggle friends. She does. Moira always has a lot of fun with them, even if they are wild party animals and drink too much. They're nice girls and don't question Moira much about where she goes. At the beginning of the summer, the four of them were walking home from the cinema. The muggle girls parted ways and Moira continued to walk on home to her home. Along the way, however, she ran into a problem. Her house is set in the countryside of Ireland, with no neighbors close by. She'd always felt safe out there, until that night after the film. A man grabbed Moira from behind and dropped her into the field just a mile or so from her house. He raped her in the field, holding a knife to her throat the entire time. When it was over, Moira walked back to her house as if nothing happened. She showered and scrubbed her body for what seemed like hours. That had been her first and only time having sex. The summer continued and Moira stayed close to the house, feeling under the weather. Her mother brought her to St. Mungo's twice (she was never sick), but they couldn't detect anything. She didn't tell anyone about that night in the field. When Moira did travel into town, it was to buy a pregnancy test from a muggle drugstore. The test turned out positive and she did the only thing she could think of doing: going to see Tommy. Moira told her brother about the pregnancy, asking what to do. She didn't tell him about the rape, but instead told him a lie. She said that she had slept with a muggle friends cousin who lived in America. Tommy thought she ought to get an abortion and Moira considered his idea heavily. Eventually, she decided to go through with it. But when it came time to go to the appointment, Moira decided that she couldn't possibly abort the baby. Yes, it was her rapist's child and she was underage, but none of that mattered - she couldn't kill the growing human inside of her belly. Moira swore Tommy to silence. A few weeks went by and she went back to Hogwarts. She hid her pregnancy the best she could, but it was difficult. She had to excuse herself several times throughout the morning lessons as the morning sickness gripped her. It passed a few months into the school year, thankfully, but other signs began to show. Such as the small bump in her stomach and her odd cravings and the fact that she had to pee all of the time. By the time Christmas holidays came around that year, Moira was five months pregnant and she had to tell her family. That was the hardest thing to do at all. Moira Finnigan, sweet and pure, was going to be a teenage mother. She could see the disappointment on her father's face, though he tried to hide it. And her mother... well, her mother tried to make the best of the situation. Her younger siblings didn't really have much to say, but her older siblings... Brigid refused to believe that the father was a boy from America. She kept pressuring Moira to tell the truth and the pregnant teenager almost did - Brigid almost broke her. But she managed to stay strong. Moira went back to school, determined to finish as much schooling as she could. Being away from the family was best. Brigid was on bad terms with them, which hurt Moira more than she let on. How could her sister not believe her? It wasn't the truth, but that didn't matter - Moira's track record was impeccable until That Night. As winter turned into spring, Brigid seemed to thaw out as well. She finally gave up trying to get Moira to change her story. It was a relief. At the end of April, Moira was excused from school. On April 28th, 2023, she gave birth to a baby boy. The plan was give him up for adoption, but the moment Moira caught a glimpse of him, she broke down into tears and cried for her baby. She reached for him and the Healers unwillingly let the new mother hold her son. She couldn't go through with the adoption. This was her son, hers. And so she kept him. She called him Rory and continued to live with her parents. She felt guilty for doing so, but she knew that she was going to need a lot of help raising her son. Moira did not return for her seventh year. She spent it raising her son, and falling in love with the blonde-haired and hazel-eyed babe a little bit more everyday. The last year has gone by so quickly. Rory is 15 months and growing so much. Moira enjoys her new life as a mother. Loving her little boy and seeing how happy he is almost makes her forget about his conception. (Shortly after Rory was born, Moira told Tommy the truth about what happened. He is the only one who knows the complete truth and had kept it a secret.) Knowing that she needs to move on with her life, Moira has decided to move in with her sister, Brigid. Rory doesn't cry so much anymore, and he sleeps through the nights, so she took the opportunity when it arose. She's looking forward to starting this new chapter of her life. Moira is, exactly, the middle child. She has three older siblings and three younger siblings. But she's never suffered from the middle-child syndrome. She's always felt as though she got enough attention from both of her parents and if she didn't, she had three older siblings to annoy. (Hey, any attention is better than none, right? At least Moira thought so when she was younger.) Naturally, being a Hufflepuff, she is very kind and very helpful. She loves to meet new people and make them feel welcome; and she also finds herself attracted to peoples needs or wants or problems. She doesn't necessarily like to listen to them, but she feels for the person. And not like a normal person would. Moira is an empath, so it's difficult for her to ignore what others surrounding her might be feeling. She doesn't know she has this gift, so she doesn't understand why she feels things so strongly and that's quite confusing most days. It's probably a rumor that people from large families hate gathering together or don't want a huge family of their own. Moira doesn't feel this way at all. She loves to spend time with her family and she's often the one in the kitchen with her mother, baking and cooking on holidays. When everyone is getting on well, Moira loves to hear all of the conversing and laughing filling the house. (However, she does feel out of the place sometimes; she doesn't feel old/mature enough to have serious conversations with her older siblings, but then she doesn't feel like talking about what spells she learnt in Charms with her younger siblings. That's probably the only time she feels like the middle child.) Moira can fit herself into any situation, though. Having fun is what Moira likes to do best. She doesn't care too much to drink or smoke or do drugs; she believes that a group of friends can have fun without doing any of those things. But that doesn't stop her from being around her friends if they're doing any of the above. Moira will occasionally have a sip of alcohol, but she doesn't prefer the taste. Maybe because of this, she lacks self-confidence. While she acts bubbly and friendly and dresses however the hell she wants, Moira really isn't confident. She tries to work on it, but it usually only gets worse. ALIAS AGE ZONE |
