Sitting in a Muggle cafe and utterly bored, Siobhan Finnigan let out a rather massive yawn. She'd been waiting at that very same table for half an hour, for her best friend, Andrew Carmichael. And he still hadn't shown up! Had he been anyone else, really, Siobhan would have straight-up walked out of the cafe right there and then. But with Andrew, it was a little different. With Andrew, she always got the slight sense that he was doing her a favour by being friends with her; after all, she sometimes felt, he was so much cleverer and friendlier and just a better person than her - why would he settle for having her as a best friend when there were so many better people? She'd decided that she would never question it. Andrew had been a great help to her over the past year; if not for him, she would probably have gone over the edge. The pressure of studies was becoming insane, and without him, she might have been the kind of person to have breakdowns every other day over this assignment or that lesson.
Skimming through the menu for what must have been the tenth time - the waitress was already shooting her dirty looks for not placing her order, but she was the kind of horribly indecisive person who could never decide what they wanted, and even when they did, kept changing their decision - her mind wandered to the most exciting thing that had happened to her in the holidays. Angelo. Just the thought of him made her cheeks heat up a little and cause her to get slightly flustered. Biting down on her lip, she mentally chastised herself for this - of course she wasn't in love with the boy! She barely knew him; she wouldn't even say she knew him enough to have a crush on him, really. But she did know that there was something she'd felt that day. She wasn't sure whether she was just overexcited about finally getting attention from a boy.. or if she was genuinely attracted to him. This could be either. She just had to be careful where she treaded from then on, that was all.
She closed the menu and drummed her fingers on the table again, whistling some tune from one of Tommy's band's songs she'd heard recently. The thought of him led her to thoughts of all her four elder siblings, once again, and she found herself wondering why she hadn't written to any of them. A few days back, she'd heard Meghan laughing away in her room as she was writing a letter, and her paranoia had naturally caused her to believe that she was joking around with her friends about her; but she had to remind herself to pretend not to care. She may have been close to Meghan, but really, only one person knew the full extent of her insecurities and she didn't want to change that. And at that very moment, that person walked into the cafe she had been waiting in for so long. She wanted to hug him so badly - he didn't know how much she'd missed him. But of course, she was annoyed, too. Anyone would be. So she kept a cool smile on her face and waited for him to approach her.
