RHEA CATHERINE CORNFOOT
Full Name: Rhea Catherine Cornfoot Date of Birth: November 16, 2008 House: Gryffindor Personality: At first glance, Rhea may seem like one of the quietest people Family: Father: Stephen Cornfoot, 44, Ministry official. Though he's almost always wrapped up in his work, both his children really love him and share a good relationship with him. He tries his best to make time for them whenever he can, and they find that quite enough. Mother: Padma Cornfoot née Patil, 44, Ministry official. She's a little strict with her children, and they complain a lot about that, but ultimately they have a good relationship with her, too. After the birth of Rhea, she took up a job in her department which allowed for more desk work and less travelling so she could be close to her children. Brother: Dhruv Cornfoot, 17, Ravenclaw. Rhea has a very close relationship with him. She feels that he's sometimes too overprotective, and she thinks he has too inflated an opinion of himself. She often teases him about his girl-chasing, but she loves him anyway. Other Family: Richard Vaisey, uncle, 42, chaser for Puddlemere United. Rhea isn't that close to him, but considering that both she and Dhruv are on their respective house Quidditch teams, she thinks she owes at least a little to him for getting her into the sport. She can't always attend his matches, but when she does, she cheers him on, even if she knows he's not in his best form now. Parvati Vaisey (née Patil), aunt, 44, works at Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions. Rhea thinks her aunt is a little silly and airheaded, and she prefers to keep her distance from her, but she likes her well enough. Valerie Vaisey, cousin, 18, ex-Slytherin. Rhea thinks Valerie is - to put it lightly - a bitch, and has told her that to her face multiple times. She really doesn't like her and doesn't like to associate with her either, and she really can't see why Dhruv still tries to connect with her. Vivienne Vaisey, cousin, 15, Slytherin. Despite the house difference, Rhea and Vivi have always been pretty close. They bonded over Quidditch and their closeness in age, and Vivi is definitely Rhea's favourite cousin. Vanessa Vaisey, cousin, 13. Rhea isn't a huge fan of hers either. However, she doesn't actively dislike her like she does Valerie, but instead simply freezes her out and pretends she doesn't exist. Mrs. Patil, grandmother. Rhea, like Dhruv and Vivi, loves her grandmother very much and really enjoys spending time with her in India. The one thing she doesn't like, though, is her pestering all of them to get married early. History: When there are two siblings in a family, it seems to be the norm that one sibling's family is full of drama; the other, relatively calm and peaceful. Rhea Catherine Cornfoot had the fortune of belonging to the peaceful side of her family. The younger child and the only daughter of Stephen and Padma Cornfoot, she was born two years after her older brother, Dhruv. Before she was born, her parents had been frequent travellers (with both of them working in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, it was all but expected of them), but after her birth, her mother, at least, stopped travelling quite as much so she could raise her. Unlike her brother, Rhea was a quiet baby, never really giving her mom much trouble. She grew up with all three members of her family doting on her like crazy. Despite her quietness, then, she became quite a spoilt little girl. She wasn't quite a brat - she likes to think she's better than Val in that respect - but she was used to having things handed to her and she would sulk whenever she didn't get what she wanted. As she grew older, she veered to the other end of the spectrum - she would never ask her parents for anything she wanted. She decided that she wanted to become self-reliant, and if she really, desperately wanted something, she would save up money and buy it herself. With her brother, she too spent two months in India every year. One thing she loves that no one else in the family does, is Bollywood movies. She grew up on a steady diet of them, and she developed huge crushes on the young actors of that time. Her biggest crush was Sidharth Malhotra, but she also really loved Shahid Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor. One reason for her not having had a single romantic attachment to a boy at Hogwarts is that she feels none of them match up to the actors she loves. If there is a boy like that, she's still waiting for him to come along. Besides that, she used to love the glitz and glamour of the films and often used to dance along to the songs and repeat the dialogues in the movies. She still loves them, and buys DVDs of every new film so that she can watch them whenever she likes (she bought a secondhand Muggle DVD player with her own money as well, and keeps it in her room in London). Her first sign of magic showed very early, when she was about five. She was playing with her Muggle friends in India, among them a boy named Aniket. They were playing cricket, she was bowling and he was batting. She threw the ball, and it flew very, very high up into the air. Aniket was trying to make out where it had gone, when it plummeted and hit him on the forehead, knocking him out. Rhea felt really guilty, and personally took him home and apologised to his mother. However, this only convinced him of her extraordinary strength, which intimidated him, and he always kept a little distance from her whenever they played together in the future. As far as her cousins went, she and Vivi were somewhat in the middle, so they'd already heard stories of Hogwarts from Valerie and Dhruv by the time it was their time to leave. Rhea hoped to be sorted into Ravenclaw like her brother - she had decided quite emphatically that she didn't want Slytherin. So when Sorting time came, she got Sorted into Gryffindor without much hesitation on the hat's part. She was glad of this, but she was quite surprised when Vivienne got sorted into Slytherin. True, there were traces of Slytherin in her, but she thought she wouldn't have wanted to end up in the same house as her sister. She didn't really hold this against Vivi, though, and the two remained close. ANU FIFTEEN GMT+4 |
