He is very good at wandlore and can at times predict how another's wand will work which makes him an excellent duellist. He doesn't let emotional burden get in the way of his work. PERSONALITY: Without his medication, Teddy has the ability to be a very volatile personality. He's always been a very sweet boy, who is considerate of other people's feelings. But this considerate thing is mostly a facade and he is very easy to make jealous, or insecure. He also used to have a lot of mood swings before he turned to get medical help. Without it he's a very deeply unhappy person who is pessimistic and focuses on everything that can go wrong. When he's thinking straight though, he's sweet and calm, and usually caring. In a relationship, he'd be the caregiver despite needing so much care himself. He's very loving and wears his heart on his sleeve, despite wishing he didn't. He loves his family a lot, and considers them to be the most important people in the world. He tries his best to even stay on good terms with the Malfoy kids, despite the bad blood in the past with their elders. He helps out when needed, and wants to make sure they are all happy and taken care of. He especially tries to make sure he can get in a healthy conversation with everybody because he doesn't want anybody else to silently suffer like he did. He's also slightly shy when it comes to girls he really likes. He doesn't mind flirting with women he doesn't feel much for, and he enjoys the occasional distraction. But when it comes to those he's given his heart to, he treads carefully and very insecurely. He's always afraid to take the wrong step and losing somebody. As much as he doesn't fully feel the loss of his parents, the idea of losing somebody he actually knows and has the chance to love for? It scares him. He's an intelligent, dedicated hard worker and has a lot of potential to become an amazing wandmaker someday. WAND: Maple, Phoenix wing feather, 13 inches. SECRETS: 1. He used to tell people that he was a werewolf too, until he realized it was affecting his reputation negatively and that people didn't think it was all that "cool". 2. As much as he is proud of them and loves them, he doesn't wish his parents were alive. He cannot imagine his life in any way different than it is. 3. He once considered overdosing on his antidepressants but decided not to because Ginny announced dinner. 4. He swears he hears his mother's voice sometimes, singing him to sleep although he has absolutely no idea what she sounds like. 5. He hates Defense against the Dark Arts but doesn't say so because his mother was an auror and his father was the best teacher there was and he has a legacy to uphold. 6. He secretly preferred celebrating Victoire's birthday over visiting his parent's grave, although he usually threw a tantrum. 7. He likes Molly more than he'd ever care to admit. FEAR: Turning into a wolf on one of the full moons. WORST MEMORY: The day he considered overdosing. It frightens him as to what extent his depression can take him. As far as he can remember, something must have triggered it but he can't remember what tiny thing set off a snowball reaction. It scares him to know something small and insignificant could've almost ended his life. PATRONUS: The day he got his wand at Ollivanders. He knew he wanted to get into wandlore from that day on. FATHER: Remus John Lupin, deceased (d. May 2 1998) MOTHER: Nymphadora Tonks-Lupin, deceased (d. May 2 1998) OTHER IMPORTANT FAMILY: Grandmother - Andromeda Black-Tonks Godparents - Harry and Ginny Potter Other Family - Narcissa Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, Chara, Scorpius and Damien Malfoy [trigger warnings for depression and suicide ideation] HISTORY: Ted Lupin was born on 17th April 1998, in the midst of the second wizarding war. Having lost his parents before even hitting the age of one month, he never quite remembered them or knew them or felt their absence. He was always a protected child, spoilt by his godfather and Mrs. Weasley. He would often be found playing with his new toybroom or many stuffed toys, although he broke quite a few of his things thanks to his inherited clumsiness. Teddy had always been an extremely protected child which made him very dependent. He'd always turn to either Andromeda or Harry and Ginny if he needed something to happen for him, given how the Weasleys-Potter gang doted over him. He was never curious about his parents and always just assumed Harry and Ginny were the ones who gave birth to him, even though they were incredibly young. When he was barely two he was introduced to Victoire Weasley. Being the next eldest, he felt a sense of empathy with her when the family started growing. He'd never admit it but if it weren't for her presence alone he'd feel terribly unwanted and alone in the huge crowd which was obviously family. He started to grow more morose however when more and more children were added to the family tree. He often found himself as a playdate to somebody else while the others just pampered the new baby, and somehow there was always a new baby. This greatly upset him, making him feel rejected and alone and worked on his fragile mind in terrible ways. He was already getting dangerously used to the idea that people would move on in life and leave him behind. His first year of Hogwarts seemed like some sort of ceremony, which he appreciated being the center of attention of. He was sent off with quite some fanfare and a few tears, and was very excited. He made friends quickly and learnt to appreciate his history and the family he came from. But obviously not everything always works out. He would often feel lost and unwanted if his friends hung out without him or when the occasional orthodox wizard called him a freak for what his father was. He started having mood swings which would either leave him upset or angry. It wasn't abnormal for him to be extremely jumpy and excited the whole day, and come evening, fall into such a state of sadness that he wouldn't even be able to lift his head to look at those who talked to him. A lot of professors were concerned with this, but he always insisted that it was because he wasn't used to being away from his family. In truth, he had no idea why he felt this way. He was very excited in his third year when Victoire joined Hogwarts because he'd finally have somebody he'd known for long. By this time, he'd also made friends. Given that he was in Hufflepuff, it wasn't hard to find people who were nice and loyal. He started becoming a little more talkative, perhaps assuming that the mood swings were a product of his loneliness. He started studying a little harder, and building his reputation with the teachers. He hoped to become a prefect, and that's exactly what he got by the time his OWL year came around. When he was in his fifth year he was introduced to the dreaded world of alcohol and found it the ultimate escape from his problem which he'd found a name for: depression. Every time he felt burdened under the legacy his family had created or neglected he's resort to getting wasted, because it gave him a high. He'd be careful about it in public, so as to not jeopardize his prefect post or to hurt anybody, but he didn't realize how much more dangerous he was being to himself by getting drunk alone and with zero regulation. There was a ray of sunshine in his life, when he dated Victoire Weasley. She was, honestly, the first girl he'd ever loved and he thought they'd end up being together. But differences set in, and the two eventually split up, which left Teddy further devastated. At this point, he was slowly spiraling into something nobody ever really saw coming. Who would've thought that smart, funny, adorable Teddy was actually just a facade to a boy who dying a slow death? When he graduated from Hogwarts and applied for a job at Ollivander's he was rejected quite brutally. This was the lowest point in his life because everything he'd worked towards was crashing around him and he contemplated killing himself. He felt miserable, and wanted to put an end to it. It was only the reminder of his family that stopped him and he took an antidote in time. A reality check harshly delivered, he decided to move away for a bit and secretly consulted a Healer without telling his family. He only told them he was traveling for a while to some part os Europe to gain some experience. He moved to Ireland, and checked himself into a hospital. He was diagnosed with clinical depression and put on strong, yet non-fatal medication. Ashamed of his illness, he drifted away from those whom he loved and threw himself into studying wandlore in his free time. The facility he was in allowed this kind of positive studying and encouraged him. With no idea what to spend his days doing, he maintained a hoard of small odd jobs to pay for his treatment, and the savings he'd made during summer jobs when he was in school. He studied while he was in the facility. Eventually, when he was deemed well enough to return, he came back to England and got back in touch with his family and family friends. He re-applied to Ollivander's and got the job he'd pined for. Now, he's pretty much in charge of it, instead of the old Ollivander who's grown too senile and old to be in charge of it on his own. He hopes that if they get more employees who work their way up like him, he'll be able to expand his studies in the field of wandlore. After a sound scolding for vanishing off the face of the earth, even his family welcomed him back with happiness. It was around this time that he was finally getting used to being around Victoire, and he started talking to the Weasley bunch more. He grew particularly close to Molly, and before he knew it, he was falling for her. This shocked him because he didn't think he'd ever really fall for somebody again, let alone a Weasley. He hadn't had any dating opportunities while he was away. After returning, he'd been in one short relationship with a girl named Jade Pereira, which had been pleasant and fun for him but he knew he was being unfair to her by not giving her what she deserved. So this attraction to Molly shocked him. After sleeping with each other on his birthday, and the entire drama unfolding in front of the Weasley family, he decided to put a curb on these feelings. He's still falling for her, hard, but he tries his best not to let it show because he needs their relationship to remain platonic. Instead he's focusing on his job and recuperating from his hospital stint. BROOKE NINETEEN (IST) GMT+5:30 |
