Isolde Dankworth was a young, passionate and determined journalist when she first stepped foot into The Daily Prophet. A true Slytherin to the core, Isolde vowed to do anything to climb up the ladder in her career - and quickly. Which meant charming the Editor in Chief, Canaan Murray. He was a very lax, and friendly man; but he also had a firm, nasty side (which usually came out when deadlines were nearing and there were no articles in.) Isolde didn't do much her first year at the paper. She wrote little bits here and there, but mostly fetched coffee and danishes for the other journalists that actually had a job to do. This irritated the young woman. She spoke to Canaan several times about this; sometimes she pleaded with him, other times she snapped at him. Neither got her any more stories. So, her the wheels in her Slytherin mind began to churn. Soon, she was slipping a little drop of a love potion into Canaan's coffee... several times a day. Obviously, he declared his love for her. He divorced his wife of sixteen years, and married Isolde. His wife tried to win him back by threatening to severe his parental rights to their only son, Emmett, who was 11 when all of this happened. But good old Isolde was still giving her new husband (whom she did not love) the love potion. Isolde went far, quickly, in at the Prophet. The other journalists glared at her, and gossiped behind her back. Everything going perfect. Until her plans were ruined. She was pregnant. At 23, just as her career was taking off, she was going to be a mother. She had no maternal instincts at all, and almost aborted the baby. But Canaan found out, so she couldn't. The baby, a girl was born in late October. By then, Isolde had stopped giving her husband the love potion. He had realized his terrible mistake, but didn't divorce his new wife. They had created a baby, and he was going to stick around to help raise her. In addition, Canaan worked diligently on mending the relationship with his ex-wife, and soon was granted his parental privileges once more. His son, however, had grown towards his father. Canaan may not have loved Isolde, but he certainly was in love with his daughter. He would often bring her into the office, just to be with her. He spent as much with her as he could. Isolde was glad to have the child off of her hands. She went about her business, and Gigi stayed with her father. Eighteen months later, and Isolde gave birth to another child. Another girl, whom Canaan fell in love with instantly. Again, Isolde had nothing to do with the baby. She hired governesses for the girls, and let Canaan deal with them. She didn't want them; she simply wanted to pursue her journalism career. Canaan brought up the idea of divorce to Isolde. He told her that he'd take the girls, she could have the house, and they would all be happy. Isolde, however, threw a fit. She liked the high-status title that came with being married to Canaan. She threatened that she'd do anything to keep the girls, as well, just to spite him. So he instantly dropped the subject, which is why they remained married. Both Gigi and Genie thrived under their father's care. They followed him everywhere. They were even a little bit tomboyish. Gigi learnt from her father that she was supposed to take care of her younger sister, and that was exactly what she did. She taught Genie everything she knew about the world, which wasn't much considering she was only 5 years old, but to the girls, it was a lot. Gigi had shown her first signs of magic around age three, and she liked to show off to her sister when the opportunities cropped up. At 5, her father hired a tutor for his eldest. She started to read and write and count, gobbling up the information as it was presented to her. She had a thirst for knowledge. The years up until when she was 10 were rather uneventful. It was the same thing, just different days. Gigi and Genie were tutored, they went all over the globe with their father, they hardly saw their mother, etc. Their step-brother was 13 years older than them, so they didn't see him too often. He was off living his own life, though it was no secret that he hated Isolde and resented his father. Gigi assumed he disliked her and her sister as well. When she was 10, Canaan became very ill. At 29 years older than his wife, he was getting old - and it was beginning to take it's toll. He developed dragonpox, was hospitalized, and the disease took his life quickly. Gigi cried for days, wondering who would care for them (her own mother was never an option.) She missed her father terribly. A few days later, Genie came down with the symptoms of the disease. She was sent to the St. Mungo's immediately, and they were able to control it. They said that since she was a kid, she would bounce back quickly. She did, though the Healers gave strict orders to keep her inside for as long as possible, and to limit her time spent with others. After some time, Genie grew irritated by this and that was when Gigi built the fort for her sister. The day after Gigi turned 11, she received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. She was giddy, and couldn't stop talking about the school. (Her father had told her stories about it.) That summer, her governess took her shopping to collect all of the things she would need. September first, she was put on the train after a tearful goodbye to both her sister and her governess. She arrived at Hogwarts, excited to begin her training as a witch. She wrote her sister every single day, telling her all about the magical school and the spells she learned. In the holidays, she returned home, happy to be with her sister once again. But, the summer Gigi was 12, her life changed dramatically. Her father had been a pureblood, and his family had lots of money. Not old money like the Blacks or those sort of families; but money nonetheless. He'd left everything to the girls, but Isolde of course found loopholes around that, and spent the money herself. Mostly the entire fortune. She'd quit her job after her husband died, running around having frivolous affairs with men (which she'd been doing all along.) She was at a ball one evening when an older gentleman was accompanied by a younger woman who was not his wife. Later, she learnt that the girl was an escort - basically, a highly paid prostitute. It took her all but one minute to decide how she'd get her money. And so Gigi's life as an escort began. Isolde taught her daughter (rather impatiently) how to apply make-up to make herself look at least fifteen. (She was tall for her age, which was a plus.) Gigi didn't understand what was going on, but she obeyed her mother so she wouldn't be yelled at. She then went on a date with an older man (only in his twenties, though) to some benefit or other. She drank champagne and winced as it went down; alcohol was gross. The night, for her, was boring. She didn't speak much; she mainly smiled and nodded and laughed. Her man returned her home later that evening. This continued for the entire summer. Gigi had promised her mother she'd keep it a secret from everyone, including her sister. She did, and was never so glad to get back to Hogwarts. To make the year even better, her sister came and was sorted into the same house. It was going to be a great year! The girls went home for Christmas and Easter holidays, and Gigi waited for her mother to send her on more "dates". She never did. The young girl thought it was over with, but she was wrong. The first week of summer holidays, she was forced to go on a date. This man was older than any of the other men she'd escorted before, however, and offered Isolde 3,000 more galleons to sleep with Gigi. He took the thirteen-year-old back to his place that evening, which was odd. She asked him why, and he chuckled. Then he started to come onto her. Gigi attempted to resist, but he started beating her. She hadn't never been treated like this before, and quickly backed down. He yanked her clothes off, nearly threw her down on the bed, and climbed on top of her. All Gigi remembers from that night were the tears, and the pain. The pain from the blows (he'd broken two of her ribs), and the pain as he broke her hymen, forcing himself inside of her. When she got home in the wee hours of the morning, Gigi showered. She scrubbed the dried blood off of her leg, and let the hot water wash away her tears. She cried for her father that night; if he were still around, none of this would be happening. Gigi's summer continued like this. By the time she returned to Hogwarts, she was probably the most experienced third year. Gigi grew depressed that year, but she attempted to hide it from everyone the best she could. Her sister saw right through her act, though. Gigi still didn't tell her sister - or anyone - about the dates. Her mother had told her that if she did, she would make Genie do the same thing. Gigi had begged her mother that, no matter what, she couldn't bringing Genie into this lifestyle. Isolde agreed, and kept a promise for perhaps the first time in her life. Her third year was a year of experimentation. Other kids were beginning to drink, and maybe smoke. Gigi tried alcohol again, but still hated the taste of it. She drank, though, to forget the summer. And it wasn't long before the idea to drink so much that she was hardly conscious during the sex popped into her mind. It made her feel a little better about her future dates. Gigi had always been an exceptional student. Not because she did well on exams, but because she was active in lessons. She loved to learn all of the magic she possibly could. She was always attentive, and had the answers. During her third year, that drive slipped just a little. It was probably due to the depression, and the alcohol (not that she drank all of the time.) Her professors were only mildly concerned; she was a teenager after all. The holidays of Gigi's third year were spent with dates. It was an opportunity for her mother to make more money, and for her to try out her trick. It worked, too. Come summer, however, the trick wasn't as effective. So Gigi looked for other ways to separate herself from her body whilst on dates. The help came in the form of a small, white pill from which she bought from a shady guy in Knockturn Alley. Combined with the alcohol, she was as high as a kite. She hated the feeling, but it did what she needed it to do. When she went back to school, though, she found it difficult to wean herself off of the pill. She managed to do it, but she went through withdrawal symptoms. The alcohol she always had on hand, and drank a little bit each day. Gigi hated (and still does hate) the taste of it, but she's psychologically dependent on the stuff. When she got straight (or as straight as she could), she focused on her schoolwork. She was back to her first and second year self again. The feeling the fantastic; learning gave her a natural high. In addition to schoolwork, Gigi did research on prostitution and other sex-related things. It was when she learnt about STI's and such. (To avoid pregnancy, Isolde has her daughter on a strict diet. She doesn't have enough body fat to have her period. She does this because anti-conception potions cost "too much".) When Gigi went home for the Christmas holidays, she went to St. Mungo's to get screened for STI's. The Healer there gently asked her questions to see if she been raped, but the girl could be as stubborn as both of her parents when she wanted to be. She didn't give the Healer anymore information than she thought necessary. The rest of the year passed by much the same. Schoolwork, dates on holidays. Gigi doesn't know how she does, but she knows that the alcohol and the little white pill (which she's begun taking again as it's summer) help her a lot. She's still best friends with her sister, and still keeps her escort life hidden from her. At fifteen, Gigi is one of the most highly paid escorts. It's not something other people would be proud of, but Gigi knows that the money keeps her mother happy and keeps Genie safe, so she does what she has to to survive. FATHER: Canaan Murray, pureblood, deceased. Gigi was always close with her father, who was much older than his wife. He was kind and enjoyed spending time with his daughters. He died of dragonpox when Gigi was just 11, right before she went to Hogwarts for her first year. MOTHER: Isolde Murray, halfblood, 38. Gigi does not get along with her mother at all. Isolde was never good with money, and when her husband passed away, she spent most of the family's fortune. But she didn't want to lose that lifestyle, and she also didn't want to work. So she offered her eldest daughter, who was 12 at the time, as a highly paid "call girl"/escort. SIBLINGS: 1) Emmett Murray, 27, halfblood. Emmett is the much older step-brother of Gigi and Genie. He's estranged from them, though they have met on a few occasions. He and Isolde do not get on at all, but he seems to like his step-sisters, as he's always nice to them whenever they do encounter each other. 2) Imogen "Genie" Murray, 13 years old, halfblood. Genie and Gigi are only 18 months apart, and are best friends. Gigi does anything in her power to keep her sister safe. They're in the same house. ALIAS AGE ZONE |
