LORCAN GAENOR SCAMANDER
 Lorcan and Lysander Scamander were born on September 20th 2005 in a small research settlement in the Amazon where their parents were searching for evidence of a particular breed of winged panther. Understandably things got a little hectic during the delivery and to this day no one is quite sure which twin was born first. While Lysander's middle name is in honor of his great granddad, Newt Scamander, Lorcan's middle name is a variant of Luna's closest friend, Ginevra Potter's name (to Lor's eternal chagrin though, it's still a girl's name). Up until the age of eleven, both of the twins led a life nearly as exciting as their birth had been, accompanying their parents on various research expeditions in search of rare and unknown magical species. Their frequent travels meant that Lorcan and Lysander usually had only one another as company, and spent a great deal of their time with one another. They visited England frequently in between adventures and became very close with a lot of the Weasley's and the other children of Luna's old friends. In Lorcan's case, this particularly meant Lucy Weasley. It was always hard to explain, but even though she was two years younger than him, Lorcan always found that spending time with her was almost as comfortable for him as spending time with Lysander. He was always amused by Lucy's tendencies to act as though she was ten years older than she was and more grown up than all her cousins, but had no idea that Lucy's thoughts about their close friendship were growing into something else entirely. As they got older, it became clear that Lysander was drawn to the studies of magical creature their parents were interested in, Lorcan was more interested in the research expeditions' secondary interests: exploring different types of magic practiced in different cultures. As they grew older, the twins developed other differences, too. Lysander was very rambunctious around people he was comfortable with, but closed off around people he didn't know, but Lorcan enjoyed meeting new people, and often served as his brother's liaison with others. When their Hogwarts letters arrived, both put up a bit of fuss at first because they didn't like the idea of being separated from their parents and going to a boring school instead of traveling and exploring. This lasted until Luna took them aside and beguiled them with stories about Hogwarts that made them eager to go as quickly as possible. Both the twins stayed with their grandfather in England during the summer before starting at Hogwarts. This was the first time they'd been without their parents for this long, and it made them both cling to each other harder. At Hogwarts, however, they were both Sorted into separate Houses. While they spent a lot of time together outside lessons and such, their time apart definitely made them more different, despite their identical appearance. Ly focused more on his interest in Care of Magical Creatures, and Lorcan grew more comfortable around other people, and developed a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Lorcan's interest in the magic of different cultures led him towards Charms, Transfiguration and Herbology which he consistently did well in. He also began dating other people - mostly girls, in Hogwarts, but he was aware that he had similar feelings about people of different genders, too. However, even though he had one somewhat serious relationship during his Hogwarts years, he never felt very inclined towards pursuing broom cupboard snogs or drunken shags like some of the other students. Initially he believed that his discomfort with getting into sex with other people was due to huge fallout that came out of his first relationship. During this time, Lorcan found out about Lucy's interest in him, and in a mistaken attempt to make her feel better and resolve his own confusion, kissed her. Ultimately, this incredibly dumb move led to him breaking up with his girlfriend and, worse, ruining his friendship with Lucy. Even years later, they haven't returned to their old friendship, a fact which still troubles Lorcan. However, even after having sex for the first time (with: one Ricky Jordan, on: table at Tamarisk tree) Lorcan still finds himself not particularly excited or interested by the idea of sex. He's now beginning to wonder if he's just weird somehow, or if he ought to continue trying to make himself like sex, since he is still attracted to other people. After graduating from Hogwarts, unlike Lysander who immediately jumped into work at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, Lorcan has resumed his old summer job at the Tamarisk Tree, while he tries to decide if he wants to take an internship in the Department of International Magical Cooperation or work in the Experimental Charms Division of the Department of Mysteries.
