Hi Professor!

I'm writing you because had a question about lizards. I also had a question about your lizard, which my sister Ricky told me about! My first question is where can I find a girl lizard? I need one to be my lizard's girlfriend and hopefully have babies with him. Also is your lizard a girl? If it is, do you think your lizard would have babies with my lizard? He's a sand lizard in case you're curious.

Dear Felicity,

That's exciting, sand lizards are very rare, you know. Where did you get him? Of course, they're not magical creatures, but that doesn't really make them less interesting. My lizard is a Moke, and yes, she's a girl (her name is Viola). I'm not quite sure whether anyone's ever tried breeding Mokes and sand lizards, or what the results would be. Is there any special reason you're trying to breed with him?

He came in my window! I was doing a fake spell because it sounded funny and he just flew in then I thought it was a lizard summoning spell but it didn't work the second time. I was hoping I'd get a girl and she and Cunning (that's my lizard) would have loads of kids. I didn't know he was that rare, that's cool.

It's too bad about him not being magical, but I guess I'm still not sure since he flew in my window and that sounds pretty magical to me. Viola's a really pretty name! It's almost as good as the name I thought of for a girl lizard. Maybe we should try to breed them, it would be an experiment! I'll make Cunning bring flowers and everything like a proper date. I don't have a real reason I just think lots of baby lizards would be cool.

Oh, I see. Well, actually, I'm not entirely sure I do see, but I'll take your word for it. Any idea where he came from? Sand lizards are certainly rare in the wild, but maybe he was being kept in captivity. That's an interesting name you have for him, any story behind it?

I suspect the magic came from you, not him, if there was magic involved. If he's really a genuine sand lizard, they're entirely non-magical reptiles - you'll find them in Muggle natural history books. I wouldn't worry though, he's still pretty special! What were you going to call him if he'd been a girl? I assume you're quite sure he's not?

Are you planning on bringing him to school? If so, we'll certainly have to introduce him to Viola and see how they get on. Unfortunately, the lizard mating season is more or less over by September, I'm afraid. You should possible check with your parents and/or dorm mates whether they also think lots of baby lizards would be cool though. And if I'm going to help you with this, you have to promise not to let them escape in the corridors of Hogwarts, or we might both get into trouble.
