Dear Brother of mine, 

I know i'm not your favourite person in the world at this moment I'm not my own favourite person either, but I thought I'd write to tell you that I'm back in town. It's been a bit, ay? How's Lissie doing? Rupert? George - if you've talked to him. In due time I'll explain everything, but just know that I didn't mean to stay gone this long, especially without notice. 

Men don't really do this sort of thing, but you're my brother so bullocks to societal norms. I love you; tell  Lissie, Rupert, and George, I love them as well.

You're damn right Where the hell Thank you for writing - I'd started to assume you were dead, to be honest. But, look, you're my brother, and I know you must have had your reasons, but a whole year. I believe that you didn't mean to be away, but - Merlin, Charles, it's been a year. I really am trying to be understanding. But it's a bit much. It's not so long since Mum and Dad died, I needed But I'm glad you're back now. We will need to talk, I don't I have to know what kept you away. Secret lovechild or something?

Everyone's well, thank you. Missed you like hell, obviously, even if they're pretending they're too cool to admit it. I love you too, you idiot, but you can damn well come and tell the others in person. We're doing a family trip, no get-out-clause. I'll even try to prise George away from that awful wife of his. No excuses, no bailing, nothing. We'll do something traditional and family-like, go to the zoo or something. But you're coming. We all need a break, and we need to catch up. As the oldest brother I order it, so there.

Seriously, please come. Next Friday. I'll write Rupert and bring Liss along, and try to get hold of George. Deal?

I know, I should have written sooner. Given you and everyone else an explanation, but honestly - I didn't intend to leave, especially without word. None of you deserved my sudden disappearance. I'm the second oldest, I really should start acting as such. But, while I suppose it's a bit late, I am alive. I'm a selfish bastard I didn't intend to worry you, Jack mum and dad would. In due time I'll explain everything. I'd rather Rupe and Liss not be involved in my explanation, however. They're kind of They don't need to worry about me - you really don't either, but I do owe you an explanation.

Oi, lay off the idiot there you over grown once upon a time ago-dragon tamer. You're getting up there in age old man, calm it down just a tad. A family trip? With George and without orge troll wicked witch Lavina? really, are we kidnapping him? You know i'm always up for a bit of chaos, but I'm afraid she'd try to murder us. Now, you've lived a full life in your old man years, but i'm just starting to live if you only knew. The zoo? I can do the zoo. Nice and safe fun, well if anything with us is nice and safe, but that I can do. By the way, I don't take orders, but for you I will.

I appreciate your apologies, and I know you weren't trying to hurt us. But - damnit, Charles, you're right, we didn't deserve that. Don't beat yourself up about the responsibility thing, that doesn't matter. But we lost Mum and Dad, it feels like we've lost George sometimes. We can't lose Look I don't want Let's not do this in letters. Of course we won't involve them if you don't want, but we will need to tell them something. You can't just disappear for a year and expect them to get over it. We'll talk after the zoo, alright?

Well, I couldn't get George, but Rupert and Liss are both going to be there so we'll almost be a full compliment. I'll see you there. Thanks for agreeing.
