just so you guys find it!! Charles Hewer Lissie Hewer Rupert Hewer -- let me know if you want/need anything changed!_______________________________________ Jack, with one hand firmly wrapped around Lissie's, apparated to a small street not far from the zoo. He was feeling slightly tense with anticipation, although the day was supposed to be a relaxing and carefree one. Seeing Charles again after the disappearing act he'd pulled was going to be tough without seizing him and demanding an explanation, but Jack was determined to remain calm and collected until after they'd all spent a pleasant day together. "Alright?" he inquired of his sister, pulling his sunglasses off the V of his shirt and putting them on as he did so. He had to resist the temptation to check her all over for the tiniest injury - after so long at this guardian gig he was getting much better, but every now and again it threatened to swallow him whole. If he did the slightest thing wrong it was all up to him, so he was determined not to do anything wrong if he could help it. Glancing up and down the road, Jack managed to figure out which direction they needed to head to get to the zoo. He'd opted to bring them to Bristol Zoo rather than London, because he knew a large number of students and former students lived in London and could potentially have a similar idea for a trip on such a lovely sunny day, and he was determined that this would be a family day with no friends to be bumped into. Plus he just loved the Seal and Penguin Enclosure here. "This way," he told Lissie cheerfully, giving no outward sign whatsoever of his preoccupation over Charles as he set off down the street.

((OOC: this is likely to be the only thread i reply to.))
Today was the day. The day they were going to spend as siblings, as family, for the first time in a long time. Jack had told Lissie that Charles would be there, and she really hoped that he showed up. It was him she missed the most, and it was him she was beginning to worry about the most. She constantly saw Jack and the only thing she worried about when it came to him was if she was going to walk in on him snogging a girl. But Charles... he had been gone for a while. Lissie had written him at his last known address, but had received no response. Eventually, the letters got sent back to her when she would send one.
Gripping Jack's hand a little too tightly (more so because of her thoughts than anything else), Lissie squeezed her eyes shut (somehow it made appirition less awful) and was delighted when she found herself under the sun on concrete across from the zoo. "I'm fine," Lissie said in response to her brother's question, looking up at him and nodding. She slipped her hand from his and rubbed it on her shorts; her palms were already sweaty. From the heat or the anticipation of seeing Charles, she wasn't sure.
Lissie obediently followed Jack, glancing up at him every now and then. She couldn't help but smile to herself. He was so happy about today; going to the zoo was one of his favorite things to do. They went at least once every summer (to different zoos) and she always enjoyed it. Jack was a like a little kid and it was nice to see him put "guardian" on the back-burner for a few hours.
"We can't miss feeding the giraffes," Lissie reminded him as she carefully maneuvered with Jack through the small crowd and towards the zoo entrance. Feeding the giraffes was one of her favorite things to do at any zoo and last year, they hadn't been able to get it done in time.

Don't be a bitch, Rupert reminded himself as he stared at himself in the mirror. The letter he'd received from Jack remained enclosed in his bed side drawer, as did fifty percent of his reservations about this entire outing. He badly wanted to meet his family and spend the day together. It had been far too long since that had happened - he saw Lissie when she dropped by from time to time, but he hadn't seen Jack in a very long time. And Charles..? Well that was a different story altogether. He felt entirely furious about the whole thing. He wanted to scream and shout at Charles, grab him by the collar and give him a good shake. But there were precisely four things stopping him from doing this.
One, he didn't want to disappoint Jack. Two, he didn't want to scare his baby sister. Three, he knew he was being the biggest hypocrite of all by being enraged with Charles. When their mother had died, Rupert himself had been absent and had continued his Europe tour in denial of his mother's death. He had been too hurt and broken by the loss to even come home and face the reality of it. His family had happily welcomed him back and he knew Charles deserved the same, for whatever reason. Even if he'd left...he'd come back. Fourth and final reason was that he was pretty sure Charles would hex him if he tried and he didn't want to put a damper on the day.
Clearing his throat and counting to ten, he walked out of the apartment and Apparated to the location they were meant to be at. The Zoo seemed like an appropriate place for a family outing, even if they were all grown adults. Rupert loved creatures, even if they weren't magical in nature. They were nowhere near dragons but they were still less judgmental and hard to deal with than humans. Smiling as he spotted his brother and sister, he walked up behind them and put a palm on each of their backs. "Hello, dear siblings. I guess the one and only Charles isn't here yet?"

I promised, Charles repeated to himself as he shuffled out of bed and sat up. He rested his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands. Merlin, he was tired. Not because he'd spent all night out, running with promiscuous women and drinking his weight in spirits - no, that was the old Charles. This Charles was tired because he'd spent all night, wide awake in his bedsit, attempting to formulate a reason as to why he'd been gone so long. Why he'd disappeared when he was literally mere kilometres away from his family, holed up in Bethlem Royal Hospital to sort his head out. But it'd been his problem to sort through, not anyone else's; and he'd been determined to sort it out alone. No one needed to see him at his worst, especially not Rupert and Lissie. Charles' believed that they deserved to hold onto as much of their innocence as they could. They'd already lost their parents.
Stretching his limbs, Charles made his way out of his room and down the hall to prepare himself for the outing. The zoo never hurt anyone, did it? Well, unless Jack decided to go back on his words toss his to the lions. What a fitting way to go; a Gryffindor being mulled by lions. An hour later Charles found himself dressed in what he'd deemed his Sunday's best. Clean shaven and his hair - which had grown quite a bit in the last year - brushed out. Merlin was he nervous. Why was he this nervous. It was just Lissie, Jack, and Rupert - George hadn't bothered to show his face; and Charles was certain that his little brother hadn't even know of his disappearing act, unless Jack had questioned the father of two on Charles' whereabouts (which Charles was almost certain he hadn't; Lavinia detested Charles; it was no secret).
Hands moist with sweat, Charles approached the gates of the zoo, paid his toll and headed inside. Right away he spotted the three; Jack in his grand stature, Lissie holding tightly to Jack's hand, and Rupert's eyes searching the crowd. With a deep intake of air, Charles stuck his hands in his pockets, and mustered up the best 'i'm still charles' smile he could manage and approached the trio.
Clearing his throat, he spoke, "Got room for one more, or am I being banished to the lion's den?" Do something fun, get your mind off of things; be with your family; they'd probably love to hear from you, Charles. he heard the words of his therapist in his head. He smiled and shrugged his shoulders, awaiting for the mob hug and not the kick in the arse that he hoped wasn't coming.

((OOC: Ellie, i know it's your turn but Lissie insisted so please forgive me for posting out of order!))
Lissie had been waiting anxiously with two of her older brothers, near the entrance of the zoo. There was a large clock that told them what time it was and Charles was late... not by much, but usually when he was late, he either wasn't going to show up or he would show up an hour late. Maybe he had chickened out after all. Maybe he hadn't changed. No. No, Lissie was sure Charles was different now. She believed in him. He would come. He would come. He wouldn't let them down - he wouldn't let her down.
Lissie wasn't sure when she had reached down to grab Jack's hand again, but suddenly she was aware of the tight hold she had on it and how sweaty her hand was. She pulled it away again and rubbed her sweaty palm on the material of her shorts. Her eyes scanned the crowd and that was when she spotted him. He was walking towards them - he looked okay. She vaguely remembered him looking a bit ragged the last time she had seen him. But, now, he looked okay. And he was dressed rather nicely, too. Lissie couldn't help but smile to herself; Charles had changed.
"Charles!" Lissie exclaimed happily, breaking away from her other brothers and closing the gap between herself and Charles. His words barely registered in her mind as she leapt off the ground and threw herself at her second eldest brother. Lissie's legs wrapped tightly around his middle and her arms flung around his neck. She squeezed him probably too hard, but she didn't care. Charles was home! (Sort of.) As she pulled back, Lissie kissed her brother's cheek. She grinned down at him.
"Of course there's room for one more," she assured him. She didn't know how Jack and Rupert felt about this - she imagined they were hiding their true feelings from her - but she didn't care. She was a little upset with her brother as well, but all that mattered was that he was here. "It's really good to see you. I really, really missed you." Her voice caught in her throat, but she didn't cry. Instead, she leaned forward to give him around hug and then she lowered herself to the ground. Her hand slipped into Charles' hand and she turned to look at Jack and Rupert, a delighted look on her face. Lissie hadn't looked or felt this happy in a long time.

No worries! I'm sorry I let this sit for so long guys I suck _______________________________
Jack grinned broadly as Rupert arrived - he missed his younger brother like hell, but didn't see nearly as much of him as he'd like. In truth he was absolutely certain he'd embarrass the hell out of him if he dropped by or wrote too much, so he tended to leave it to Rupert to make the first move. And as Rupert was a busy guy with a big group of friends, it often went a while between the two of them seeing each other. Jack therefore clapped Rupert very enthusiastically on the shoulder and gave him a broad grin and a shrug in answer to his question. He was absolutely determined to keep the atmosphere light until they'd all enjoyed a fun day together, and therefore managed to answer fairly non-committally.
"He'll be here," he said firmly, casting his eyes around in case Charles was in a crowd somewhere and just hadn't managed to spot them. He felt Lissie's hand creep back into his and squeezed it gently. All of them were wound pretty tight about this, but Jack wanted so badly for a pleasant day before any of the serious stuff had to be talked about. He felt like they owed it to each other.
All of a sudden, Lissie was off, her hand pulled out of his as she pounced on the newest arrival. Unable to resist laughing at the incongruous sight of their sister wrapped around Charles like a limpet, Jack moved towards the pair of them, briefly checking to make sure that Rupert was trailing behind. Coming to a halt in front of Charles and Lissie, Jack felt his greeting catch in his throat. He was delighted to see Charles, of course he was, but there was resentment and worry mixed in there too, and for a moment they won out. But his eye was caught by the huge beam on his sister's face, and the palpable happiness pouring off her, and he successfully fought any negative feelings down.
"God, it's good to see you," he said to Charles without any further greeting, and regardless of whether it was unmanly or not he stepped forward and pulled Charles into a tight hug, slapping him on the back in delight and relief and finally seeing him. Pulling back from the hug, he put a hand on Charles' shoulder and looking him up and down, giving him a broad grin once he was done. "You look great." And Charles did, really. Not as healthy as Jack remembered, definitely nervous - but he was dressed well and his new longer hair suited him. All in all, better than expected.

Rupert gave Jack a look which supposed to be both worry and skepticism. It's not like he didn't want Charles to show up. He wanted that more than anything. But some idiotic part of his brain hoped that if Charles didn't show up again, then they'd have a legitimate reason to be furious and wouldn't have to deal with the fact that their brother had just bailed on them. There you go again, you useless hypocrite, he told himself, rolling his eyes and watching his little sister. She looked so hopeful that he felt his heart break a little bit. If not for himself or Jack or George, Charles would have to answer for Lissie.
"Yeah, yeah, I know he will -" the words had no sooner left his mouth that the devil himself decided to appear. Rupert stared at him, trailing slowly behind his other two siblings, his eyes narrowed as he studied Charles. He looked cleaned up but it was a little obvious that it was a recent effort. His hair looked long and his eyes look tired. Rupert chuckled as Lissie threw herself into a hug, and then watched Jack greet him as well. The whole time, he stayed with his arms folded, waiting his turn. He wanted to reach out and smack Charles, or at least swat him at the back of the head. But the moment Jack pulled back, Rupert reached forward and pulled Charles into a tight hug as well (and given his job, he'd built some solid arms for a tight bear hug).
"You're a fucking idiot," he said under his breath, so that Jack and Lissie wouldn't hear. It was uncharacteristic for him to swear, unless he was highly worked up. "If I didn't love you I'd actually be throwing you into the lion's den. This isn't over." Then he pulled back, beaming at Charles, showing off the genuine side of him which was ecstatic at his family being there together, burying the part of him which was highly upset and angered. Turning to Lissie, he winked at his sister and then asked in a louder voice.
"Alright, little rat pack. Where are we heading to first? My lady?" he asked, holding out a hand to Lissie. "Your pick?"
