CHLOE SYRINX NOTT
Chloe Nott is one silly little bubble of naivëté. Easily distracted, generous, and sheltered, she grew up in incredibly privileged surroundings and was showered in love by both her parents and has been allowed to get away with murder her entire life - not that she'd ever dream of murder. Or get away with it, for that matter. Perhaps to start at the beginning would be the easiest thing. Born the younger of a set of twins by about eleven minutes, Chloe shared a womb with her lifelong best friend and grew up alongside him. Inseparable, she and her brother Sebastian shared a nursery, toys, and every little thought that ran through their minds. Their parents, Daphne and Theodore Nott, were completely enamoured of their children and spoiled them rotten despite their best attempts to raise them in moderation. Fortunately for all concerned, the twins were showered with such generosity and warmth that they learned to give this back to the world rather than prejudice or snootiness, and although Chloe to this day is quite unaware of the luxurious bubble she lives in, any time she makes a faux pas as a result of her upbringing (if she notices it!) she's completely mortified. She hates to hurt people and whenever she does as a result of her self-centredness or lack of thought before speaking she's always heartbroken and will do anything she can to make it up to whoever she's hurt. Growing up the twins saw a great deal of other chilren, especially those of pureblood families to whom their parents (both pureblooded Slytherins) remained close. They saw most of their cousins the Malfoys and the Ricketts, and would always get along well with both sets of children. Chloe and Seb were always each other's first port of call, though, and were just as happy playing with each other for days upon end as seeing lots of other children. For Chloe, therefore, going to Hogwarts and being Sorted separately from Sebastian was one of the hardest things she's ever had to face. Previously she had been utterly thrilled at the prospect, jabbering about it endlessly with her mother and father - although she had a fair few evenings where she realised that she'd be leaving both her adored parents and the house she loved so much and spent a couple of hours crying in her father's lap - but to hear "GRYFFINDOR!" called just seconds before Sebastian took the stool and the Hat and heard "SLYTHERIN!" nearly broke Chloe's heart. She'd been so close to her brother for so long that being apart from him was absolutely unthinkable. Fortunately for Chloe she ended up sharing a dorm with some of the most excellent girls she's ever come across, and had the good luck to make fast friends with most of them, including two of the Weasleys, Rose and Dominique. The girls made her life easier in those first weeks away from her loving home and brother, and Chloe perked up when she realised she would still see Sebastian in lessons and around the castle. Hogwarts was an entirely pleasant experience for Chloe. Her friends very quickly picked up on her innocence in terms of the wider world and (often unconsciously) worked to protect her from its harsher realities. To this day Chloe tends to live in an oblivious little fairy tale bubble where everyone is happy and can be cheered up if they're not. She was perfectly atrocious in lessons, of course, always gossiping and giggling instead of paying attention, and only managed to scrape through all her classes thanks to the fierce attention of both her brother and her Head of House, who was determined that she wasn't going to fail simply for want of attention span. Academics definitely took a back seat for Chloe, and she has barely enough OWLs and NEWTs to rub together. Fortunately for her, Sebastian is a classroom whizz and therefore Daphne and Theo are happy for him to be the achiever in that respect while Chloe is considered the "creative" one, although evidence of her creativity has yet to materialise. In truth Chloe has few talents. She has an excellent taste in clothes, but apart from that her talents are only really interpersonal. She is kind right through to her core and generous with everything she has, always stopping to give money to beggars and donating old things to charities. She says the wrong thing quite regularly, especially when she's in very clever company and is made to feel (never on purpose) stupid, at which point she rather panics and blurts out silly things. She does the same around boys, with whom she is perfectly frightful - she has only had one boyfriend, a boy called Camden, who she adored and dated for about a year. They broke up in a manner that came as a surprise to Chloe, but which most her friends had called long ago. She came out of the experience still a virgin and no less optimistic about life, but is warier around boys than ever. Perhaps unfortunately, Sebastian still kind of fills the role of boyfriend in her life, since she doesn't want sex right now and Seb is pretty much her ideal in the opposite sex. It's a fault both twins have - they measure potential partners up against each other and the other person always comes out wanting because they're basically each other's worlds. Chloe therefore has little motivation to get out and about into the world of dating, something both her brother and father are delighted about. Since leaving Hogwarts, Chloe has been living at home and is likely to be there for the foreseeable future. She's definitely the kind of girl that will go from her father to her husband, and indeed a few decades ago would have been the perfect pureblooded daughter since her only real ambition in life is to marry a man she loves as much as she loves her dad and brother and to make a family as happy as the one she grew up in. Thrilled to be back at home and within her parents' protective embrace, Chloe is spending her time catching up on the time they missed out on while she and Seb were away at school (holidays were never enough), sort of getting to know her parents anew now she's an adult, and trying to discover some ambition within herself to do something. In truth all she wants to do is laze around with her friends, spend hours with her brother, and read a lot of gossip magazines. Her home is perfect for this, since the sprawling grounds and huge house boast gorgeous flowers, a swimming pool, a yew maze, beautiful rooms to lounge in and all sorts of mod cons. In all honesty Chloe kind of wants to live there forever. Give up the comforts she's used to? I don't think so. ALIAS AGE ZONE |
