hi everyone, i'm kaye! some of you may know me from tumblr/ngf back in the day; i'm super new to this whole rp thing so hopefully you'll put up with my "i have no idea what's going on" state of mind! i'll make this a bit prettier later or something maybe

IVY LAUGHLIN, sixteen, pansexual, slytherin, half-blood

ivy is pretty hard to get to know at first and it's only the persistant people she eventually opens up to and becomes friends with. she is trying to be more approachable and friendly and she's getting there – slowly. friendship is very important to her, she doesn't often flit from person to person so if you break past her barriers, you're in for good. she's also incredibly dependable – if you need her, she'll be there. however she does have the tendency to make enemies along the way due to her affinity for speaking her mind and, when asked for the truth, she'll give you it – no matter how brutally honest it is. relationship-wise, she's not too sure what she's looking for right now, it takes her a while to make connections with people and she's not got too much experience in the relationship field. one night stands are a-ok in her book, she's very interested in playing the field and seeing what's out there – gender is something that doesn't matter to her. though she does have a slight penchant for engaging in arguments and refusing to back down, she's an incredibly loyal friend to have and treats the people she cares about extremely well.

looking for any kind of relationships, really! friends, enemies, potential love interests etc etc

addie/ivy: well i don't imagine they've talked much yet but we should definitely see how they get on at some point, especially if ivy's gonna make friends with some of addie's friends! i think they'd find each other a bit hard to swallow at first but eventually warm up and realize the other's pretty cool also we could maybe hook them up at some point that might be fun hahaha

hmm she has no real reason to know leo, who is 4 years older and in a different house, or claire, who is 2 years younger and in a different house, or elayna, who is 1 year older and in a different house siGH

julian/ivy: I CLAIM FIRST THREAD WITH IVY FOR THESE TWO yes ok so i think they probably just havent bothered to talk to each other much over the past few years just because of their personalities; julian wouldn't approach first and neither would she, i bet, so i think once they actually start talking which we are going to have to force them to do we'll have to see their reactions to each other, but i wager julian will be reluctantly impressed with her after he talks to her for a while and they're similar in a lot of ways so!! let's thread them (soon) (i promiSE)

hi kaye!! i have an absolute truck load of dumb characters so i apologize in advance

faye/ivy: faye stanley's a sixth-year hufflepuff and she's got a bit of an attitude. she's deeply sarcastic, she's deadpan, she's lazy, and mostly she just likes to chill by herself and listen to music. she does have friends, though!! addie beaumont and ainsley rickett are her best mates, despite her being so different from them. even though faye has the attitude and the sarcasm, she's not nasty, and she's terribly honest and will stick up for the underdog whenever she has to. i'm not quite sure how she and ivy would get on?? neither of them seem really the type to go out of their way to befriend someone, but i'm sure they've crossed paths during their time at school so i'll let you decide how you think they'd get along!

danni/ivy: danni's a seventh-year gryffindor and she's really bubbly and blonde and blunt without meaning to be rude and she has a bit of a temper and she can come across as totally shallow when she wants and she's majorly insecure but she's very, very sweet despite it all. i don't think they'd come into contact much, but danni's a social butterfly and she's very persistent so if they ever bumped into each other danni'd just keep talking to her until she talked back! god she's such an annoying busy-body

sebastian/ivy: seb recently graduated, he's an ex-slytherin, he's rich and very pretty and he's very aware of it, he's totally up himself and he'll flirt with just about anyone. he'd have considered her a bit too young for him when he was at hogwarts but if he ran into her now he'd probably flirt and i daresay she'd know him just from rumours/to see around because he's very loud and likes his presence to be acknowledged. he doesn't really care about anyone but himself and a select few, and he can be really obnoxious, but he can also be charming and funny when he wants to be, so feelings towards him tend to be divided.

i think they're all the characters that would apply to ivy that i have this very minute in time, but i have a few more in the pipeline that may work later on!

Hi there, Kaye! I'm Kitty. I was an NGFer for a while, but I don't think we've ever met. Nice to meet you!

So... I have three characters that may potentially know Ivy.

One is Hugo Weasley. He's in her year and Hufflepuff, but there's not a great chance that they'd know each other well. Hugo is quiet and shy as hell and since Ivy isn't the most talkative person, I think the only reason they would even know of each other is maybe meeting in class or something.
The second is Alice Longbottom. She's in Ivy's year too and a Gryffindor. But I think they would definitely dislike each other. Alice is boisterous and loud and doesn't think twice before speaking. Plus.. Ivy is in her twin sister Abby's dorm, and Alice and Abby have a terrible relationship, so she would really just try to stay away from anyone who might be friends with Abby.
And the third is my baby here, Siobhan Finnigan. She's in Ivy's house but a year younger. She's very insecure, but outwardly appears confident and is sarcastic as hell, and seems to not give a crap about anything. Do you think she would get along with Ivy by any chance?

addie/ivy:: i think they'd have a bit of friction when they first meet due to being fairly similar in some ways and very different in others but perhaps they'd find friendship in the fact that they're so opposite to each other and realise that they balance each other out a bit?? and yes i'm with you on that last part an ivy/addie hookup would be fun to write haha

we've already started julivy so i'll leave that one basically sass and sarcasm and being mutually impressed with each other though not wanting to admit it

faye/ivy: i think ivy would really like the brutally honest side of faye to be honest because she's so similar herself and the fact that faye is sarcastic and a bit lazy would attract ivy too because she's not the kind of person who needs to have friends surrounding her 100% of the time and takes pleasure in being by herself a lot. so yeah i think they'd actually get on pretty well if they stopped to get to know one another because they're alike in a lot of ways

danni/ivy: hahaha these two are complete opposites but i don't think that's a bad thing. ivy's kind of drawn to people who are loner-ish like her but i think she'd actually get on really well with louder, more outgoing people like danni. she'd like danni's persistance because she does enjoy it when she gets the sense that someone does actually want to speak to her and be her friend though perhaps after a while it might frustrate her a bit, but i definitely think they'd get on on some level!

sebastian/ivy: oh man sebastian is that guy that ivy will be really attracted to but completely deny it and no doubt she'd flirt back though not without some sarcastic remarks thrown in! i imagine she'd have heard of him considering he's only a couple of years older and they'd have been housemates for a while and maybe what she's heard about him would put her off initially even though she'd more than likely be attracted to him at least a little bit

hi kitty! no i joined a bit later than a lot of people so i think that's why we never met haha but nice to meet you too!

i think she's maybe know hugo from seeing him around but i can't see them ever talking? mainly because she can be a bit antisocial and therefore with him being shy neither of them would want to make first contact!

ooh that would be interesting if alice & ivy didn't get along – alice doesn't seem like ivy's kind of person at all but they'd probably know each other from seeing each other around though i doubt they'd have spoken. i feel like alice would be that person that ivy just sighed and rolled her eyes at whenever she was anywhere near, haha

siobhan and ivy would be have a good friendship i think! ivy would see a lot of herself in siobhan and due to siobhan being that bit younger than her ivy might try to take her under her wing a bit. i can see them being fast friends and being all sarcastic and sassy to anyone that might cross their path which would be a lot of fun!

ainsley/ivy: i see that you and pearl and ella have discussed addie/ivy and faye/ivy to a certain extent here which is probably significant because addie and faye are ainsley’s two best friends so some of ainsley and ivy's dynamic would end up depending on what addie and faye think of her, though that’s not completely concrete because ainsley would end up forming her own opinion of her anyway and i think they could be friends if they ever actually got to know each other because ainsley wouldn’t have any particular problem with her and she has friends with many different personalities and she and ivy are actually similar in some ways so yeah haha also they have some slytherin/gryffindor parallels going on because ainsley’s always wondered how things would have been different had she been sorted into slytherin similarly to how ivy wonders about gryffindor so i’m heRE FOR THAT AND WOW I FEEL LIKE I’M RAMBLING i’m sorry! [whispers] malese jow and crystal reed (i’m just going to end on this note)

caleb/ivy: well caleb is julian’s best friend but unlike julian [coughs pointedly] caleb would have taken notice of her way earlier because she’s super pretty and he’d definitely try to talk to her, not necessarily just to flirt but because he’s generally an outgoing guy and finds it easy to make friends and enjoys talking to people and making other people smile. oh and because he's had julian as a best friend for five years now he’s totally used to sarcasm and introverts so those aspects of ivy’s personality wouldn’t bother him and he’d likely talk her ear off if he got the chance.

devyn/ivy: devyn is a slytherin in the year above her and i doubt they’d talk much! devyn would probably dislike her and i literally have no reason to back this up with, it’s just on principle because she’s moody and thinks most of her classmates/housemates are not worth her time in the least tbh i don’t know what to do with her but if they ever ran into each other in the common room and like one of them accidentally caused the other to trip or something i think the outcome would be hilarious not going to lie ahaha mutual snark forever alsoooo she’s danni’s twin sister if that makes any difference? they don’t get along either oh man

okay so well ivy/astraia we have sorted (i am yay astraia finally has friends lmao)

Reese is 24 and Brigid's 22 so I think they're p much out.

Kieran is 20 and close with Astraia and somehow keeps crashing into girls in that year so he may end up meeting her but I doubt he already knows her??

Which leaves Albus, Cassie and Nik, all of whom are two years above Ivy; Al was a Slytherin, Cass and Nik Gryff. Cassie and Nik will talk to literally anyone - Nik is a friendly, happy, flirty musician with horrific observational skills but will happily chat anyone's ear off, and is generally unperturbed by nastiness. Cassie's equally keen to talk to anyone, but she's much more mental and sarcastic, while generally being pretty chill in her approach to life and dramatic when she's with her friends (she and seb are obnoxiously dramatic together oh my god) and while she's much more irritable and impulsive thank Nik, she's still genuinely keen to talk to people and get to know them because she just loves people.

And then there's Albus, ULTIMATE LOSER. His best friends are his relatives, his pre-Hogwarts friends (lysander scamander I'm looking at you) and his ex-dormmates, though he's been known to get along with a few other kids in other years (and then a few in his year from other houses) but seeing as they were both slytherins, they could know each other, if you want? Albus' memory is utterly insane, he remembers people and details like nobody's business, and she was dormmate to Ella Malfoy, at the very least, who was Al's friend, so I'm sure Al knows at least a bit about her, but I think he'd know some more of her own right as well? It's totally up to you whether she knows much of him - I mean, I'd assume she knows a bit of him, at least, because Albus Potter and also gorgeous - but whether she's paid him any more attention than that is totally up to you. He's a snarky, selective loser, I'm sorry to say, so he wouldn't have gone out of his way to speak to her, though I imagine there was probably some situation- house party idk - over the years where they could have talked, if you want, or we could throw them in a thread now and see what they're like, if you wanted that? Or we could just leave them as potential acquaintances id you don't want to thread, that's all good too! =]

Hey Kaye! I'm Riss. Resident recluse. I'm always stressed and constantly forgetting something, but never mind that. Haha. I have two characters that would/should know Ivy!

Olivia & Ivy: Olivia is my baby here. She's head of Slytherin and teaches potions. When it comes to teaching she's very much so a 'get it done, then have your fun' type of professor. She doesn't like to repeat herself unless it's for clarification purposes, and if she catches you not paying attention - may Merlin help you. But when it comes to her Slytherins, she's a bit more lenient. They're her babies - partly because of course she was a fellow Slytherin, and her son - who is younger than Ivy by two years - is also a Slytherin. Still, she's a no-nonsense type of professor, and I think she'd like Ivy, a lot.

Damien Malfoy & Ivy: Ah, my resident asshole. Damien pretends to be okay, constantly, when he's far from it. He's a lot more sensitive than he appears to be. He's the middle of the three Malfoy kids. He's sarcastic, arrogant, and likes to think he's funny. He's had the same best friend since he was 11 - Devyn Oberlin - and together they're two of the most hostile assholes in the world. He'd probably befriend Ivy just to piss of Devyn, honestly (which if Damien ever ends up dead one day, its because Devyn killed him). But aside from that, I think Damien & Ivy could get along pretty well. He appreciates snark in girls.

hey kaye, becca here! (this is really terrible, ngf is so long ago that i can't remember if we talked there or if we only came across each other on tumblr later through the others, i'M SO SORRY!)

aaanyway, i have a few characters to talk about:

LILY POTTER is ivy's year, but i doubt if they'd know each other too well right now. lily is rather shy and doesn't tend to make the first approach to people, although she is slowly getting more confident (she's a prefect, which has kind of forced her to be more assertive) and so she's beginning to break out beyond her small group of close friends. she's good friends with addie, just because they've shared a dorm for the last five years, so if and when addie and ivy become friends, she and lily might get to know each other through addie?

SCORPIUS MALFOY is an ex-slytherin two years older than her. seb and albus are his two best friends (seb's also his cousin) and it sounds like ivy vaguely knows who they are, plus ivy is dormmates with scorpius's sister. he's a bit of an arrogant dick (well, he's actually not all that arrogant underneath, he doesn't have the greatest self-esteem, but he acts it) and is generally very sarcastic and cynical in his interactions with people. he's also pretty appalling in that he probably wouldn't know her name, only that she was in ella's dorm (if that) and would take very little notice of her at all, so i'm thinking vague recognition would be about as far as it would go, unless she ends up being close friends with ella (or damien i guess, but he takes even less notice of damien's friends than of ella's)...

LOUIS WEASLEY is a hufflepuff in the year above her, and i'm not sure that they'd really know each other, except that louis is friendly with damien (most of the time), but louis is a generally sweet and friendly guy, very outgoing and flirts with people without really meaning to. devyn is one of his best friends (and also his ex-girlfriend) but he definitely wouldn't dislike ivy just because devyn does. again, i wouldn't expect them to be close friends or anything, but they might know who each other was.

this lady whose account i'm on is ZANNA STANLEY, who is faye's older sister, and zanna usually knows who people are and remembers names and faces, so if faye and ivy are friends, zanna would probably recognise her. if they met, she'd probably see a lot of similarities between ivy and the way zanna was herself at sixteen, so she'd quite approve of ivy.

i also have EMILY MARSDON, who is the care of magical creatures professor. does ivy take that subject?

oh, and i'm in the process of (slowly) writing an app for a girl who's going to be a fifth year slytherin, so when i have her up and running i'll get back to you!

alright so ainsley/ivy: im so yes for this okay definitely not bc malese jow and crystal reed definitely not at all but yeah basically everything you said i think if they got a chance to know each other (aka we should thread them at some point yes good) then they'd definitely click i feel though they also might clash in some aspects being pretty similar to one another so that would also be really interesting to see (attractive ladies bye)

caleb/ivy: i think caleb & ivy would get on pretty well actually – she likes people that are easy to talk to, mainly because she's kind of awful at making the effort herself so i think she'd definitely connect to that aspect of him. the fact that he's also julian's best friend would probably warm her to him as well because, well, if he can deal with julian for so long then surely he can deal with ivy! but yeah i think these two would become good friends if they got to know one another

devyn/ivy: i think ivy would probably have a similar attitude towards devyn to be honest, she tends to dislike people who dislike her and doesn't really like people who are similar to her in those aspects because she'd see her competition (for what i dont know. the ultimate snark master maybe), but i think if that scenario happened it would be A+ tbh they'd hate each other so much it would be glorious

ok jane hello!! i've already pmed you about a couple of your characters but i'll reply here anyway bc ~organisation~

i think ivy would get on with both cassie & nik, but maybe nik slightly more as she's not really into people who are a bit dramatic (even though she can be pretty dramatic herself oh ivy). she'd probably have heard of them at the very least – she pays a fair amount of attention to names and people despite pretending the absolute opposite so she would at least know who they are i think. if she gave them both a chance then there's a probability she'd actually like both of them more than she'd expect to

okay onto albus – i think she'd most likely have heard of him, being harry potter's kid and all so she'd most likely have heard some rumours and some drama surrounding him but she tends not to put much stock into gossip unless she's heard it proved by the person it concerns. i think it's likely they could have spoken really briefly in passing like at a party as you said and they'd definitely know each other by sight though i doubt they'd consider each other even acquaintances. she's pretty similar in the selective snarky loser way so i imagine she'd be a bit like "nah" when he was still at hogwarts. i think threading these two would be a lot of fun actually because they'd just be kind of unimpressed with each other and not take any of the other person's shit which would be definitely be amusing!
